Most of you know my father passed away unexpectedly 19 days ago I made it a personal goal of mine to tag a buck for my father.

Well this morning he was watching over me!

    Story time...

With the approach of the November and the cold front I hit the woods with high hopes this morning and I was not disappointed! This particular piece of land I was hunting is FILLED with does so I pretty much leave it alone until the the big show starts. I checked my cam yesterday and had a few decent bucks so I figured now is the time so I hung my stand around noon on 10/23 to save me the trouble in the this morning.

    The kill tree

So I climb up an hour before light and wait. I had a couple deer come past my stand during non shooting light. Right at first light I have 2 does and a small buck out in front of me so I stand up grab my bow and wait to see what else comes, nothing. About ten mins later I hear a deer come running from behind me it's a small 8 point and he is looking behind him like he just got his behind whooped. So I sit there an watch the little 8 for about two mins when I hear a crack behind I look over my shoulder pretty much right below my stand and see his rack. I immediately and slowly grab my bow waiting for him to step out in the field where I happen to have a mock scrape 10 yds from my stand. 2 mins later he stepped out worked over my scrape and continued up the hill I waited for him to hit 20 yards when he did I let out a mehhhh he stopped quartering away I sent the arrow through both lungs and put it in the opposite shoulder breaking his shoulder. He almost dropped right there, but instead decided to run 200 yds he fell over once and got back up!

Here's the mock scrape from my stand

And some pictures from the track and recovery my blood was thin at times and thick at others. I lost blood after about 150 yds and went to where I thought he was. The kill zone destroyed his lungs!

    How I found him

And of course some hero shots
