So myself and a couple of buddies are headed to Illinois this fall for a 7 day bowhunt. Currently I'm shooting the set up thats in my sig. I've never really entertained the idea of having a back up bow until this trip was scheduled. I really don't want something to happen to my Commander while I'm up there and it cause me to lose valuable hunting time. So here's what I'm looking for.

I need a 30.5"-31" DL bow for a back up. I'm not trying to spend a ton of cash for a bow that won't see much action($300-400 with accessories). I just need something that will be there for me if I need it...used is fine.

    Bows? Brands? Suggestions?

Parker makes a great bow that should be in your price range.

Buy another commander but get a used one. There are very good used ones available for around $400. You won't even need accessories right away because if you need to go to your backup you can just switch current accesories and everything should be good to go. If you want to outfit the bow with its own accessories then consider getting a 60# bow, if your current one is 70#'s. There are many benefits to this type of back up bow setup.

Bass Pro has a line of bows made by Parker I believe. You can pick one
up with all the bells and whistles for about 400. Not your top of the
line but a good back up.

Some of the lower end new Bear Bows look promising.

I were in your position, I would follow Bruce's advice. You can easily find one used on AT, heck for that matter you may find a leftover as well for close to that. Get it set up at the same exact poundage and you can just take your accs off your #1, level up, and go.

Thanks fellas. I'll probably go that route. More than likely I'll go ahead and get a rest and sight so it will be sighted in and I won't have to worry with that if the need should arise.
