If anyone can give me some advice on gear, bows, anything that will help get me started for this coming season it would be greatly appreciated. I am in Iraq right now, and I can't wait to be back in the mountains of Colorado.

Check with Bowtech (im not a fan of bt but) I think they give some super ass deals to deployed GIs. You will have to check into that now though. I think the offer stands while you are deployed only.

You really just want to make sure that the bow in comfortable for you, build well, shoots fairly fast and is queit. The diamond marquis should be all of that. I just got mine and shot it for the first time on saturday and loved it. I haven't really shot any of the newer bows out so I can't compare it to them, but it is really queit, shoots over 300 feet/s and was very comfortable to shoot. There was almost no hand shock and seemed to be very forgiving. Just make sure that when you are getting ready to shoot that you go into a local shop and get the draw length set properly.

Soldier, thank you for your service. Best of luck to you, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Colorado. I am sure it will seem like paradise as compared to Iraq.

Like others have said, just be sure the bow is comfortable to you while you are holding and shooting it.
A big thank you for your service as well.
