We all know that soybeans are legumes and therefore a fertilizer that is low in nitrogen is generally recommended. Something like 9-23-30 is normally used for maximum pod production.
One thing that I have been doing for quite a while is to hit the soybeans with 150# of 46-0-0 (UREA) after the beans are 4-10" tall (make sure you do this just before a rain) your soybeans will grow taller and have much larger leaves than the non Urea soybeans. (more like a forage bean) This really helps increase the green tonnage on those small plots that are getting hammered.
