Ok, I live in a loghome on a beautiful hardwood hill w/ several thousand acres of private land behind me and I'm sittin on the back corner of my own 24 acres....on my left border(north, my house faces east)is a crazy guy who I very rarely see or communicate with.....

I've lived in this cabin since April of 2000, and planned on hunting in the woods around my house, but after living there a few seasons I could not bring myself to shoot the deer that I had watched grow up...so I go to my hunting cabin which is only about a mile away as the crow flies back in a swamp.....

But this year I decided to get back into Bowhunting and have decided I can shoot these deer with a bow ( I could shoot them all day long off my front deck w/ a rifle)

Well, there is this one 3-4 year old I've been keeping my eye on and have a ladder stand set up in the bottom directly in front of my house (about 125 yards away)....Last Sat. a.m. I get up and go get in the stand and it is not long before a group of does goes past me....(coulda shot, but the buck generally follows a few minutes behind this group.)

When the does get out of sight I do my can call, and as the bleat ends I'm rewarded w/ a gunshot from my crazy neighbors house..

Yep my buck was trailing the does (like I've watched him for 2 years)and my neighbor said he was drinking coffee and saw the buck, ran got his rifle slipped out onto his porch and just as he was gunna shoot he heard a doe bleat and the buck started trotting toward it so he had to take a risky shot but he hit him at about 100 yards......(the buck was on a trot right to me....10 more yards and he would have been off his property and on mine closing into range...

    Can't win for losing.

Man that's even harder to handle than my disappointing season. The buck I was after wasn't on his way to me, but he was shot on a neighboring property. Not much you can do about it though. Keep at it and you'll eventually get rewarded.

    Was he shooting toward you?
