I am going to pick up JUST ONE MORE camera here shortly for the upcoming year. I know many will say "Buy them all", "Buy both", etc. I have MPE-5s, MP6's (6 and 8MP), and 2012 Red 40. Of all, Red 40 is my favorite and does take a great day and night pic... but those MP6's and MpE-5 have been great too. With all the cameras going on sale Im really torn as to which direction to go. My choice are down to: 2013 Red 40 (12 MP) for $135 2012 Red 40 (8 MP) for $119 2013 MP6 Black for $119 I know the 2012 Red 40 does a great job. But the 2013 Red 40 was bumped up to 12 MP, but have seen where some say they like the 8 MP pics better in certain situations. And then you have the MP6 black. I really would like to try out one of the black flash cameras. I just dont know which way to go... I know some of yall have experience with all of these cameras, or the Black vs the 2012 or 2013 red 40. If yall could offer up some recommendations i would really appreciate it
Never used Covert's before ,but the Black is the way to go if you want to continue seeing deer and big deer! The flash will scare most, and the black will not give it's location away as my Black Stealth cams are unnoticed as of yet. Was a huge difference since using the Black TC's. Just my opinion. Rocky
Id say either the 2012 or 2013 Red 40. I have both, but I think I prefer the 2013 personally. I have never had a red flash cam spook a deer, and I have 1000s of pics of big bucks coming back to the same spot night after night. I actually shot my 177" buck while the cam was taking pics of him, and I could see the red LEDs in the corner of my eye.
The MP6 Black is quickly becoming my "go to" camera out of the 2013 line up. But I do more predator sets than most. For deer only the 2012 Red 40 deal is hard to beat
2012 Red 40 or 2013 MP6 Being 100% honest I regret getting a 2013 Red 40 and not another 2013 MP6...I don't see a difference sadly for my personal choice of settings.
In all honesty, I feel like my '13 MPe-5 has more saturation out of the box than even my '12 Red 40. Maybe it's just me. I can tweak both perfectly in LR, though, so it's a toss up, I suppose.
I have 1 red 40 bought last year been out since Feb/Mar and the last time I checked it still on 7 of battery life almost 1 year so far.. will be getting more of these cameras
