I'm thinking it's a late rut this year. I hope??

I sat from dawn to dusk today and did not get out of my stand. I only saw a small doe at dusk and no bucks all day. Thought for sure I would catch a glimsh of some bucks casing today through the large farm fields I overlook.

Hopefully the rut will be in full swing NEXT Saturday because that is next time I can hunt.

Kind frustrating really. So either there is a lot of chasing and deer sex happening in the standing corn:eek: or the rut is a little bit later this year.

Why would you call that a late rut?

Sounds like the northern hemisphere is experiencing a lot of activity now, if anything it might be early. With this full moon tomorrow night, I'm hoping it's going to be best come next weekend as well. (But it ain't late).

I think its on already! I called in a small buck tonight. My buddy had a nice one chasing a dow all over this morning. Also ran into a giant during the mid day today! I'll be out the next couple days all day, can't wait for the morning!

Ive seen 12 different buck the last 2 days. Hardly any chasing though all cruising mostly in the evenings.

Why do people say we are having a late or early rut on any given year. It is a proven fact that the rut happens at the same time every year where ever you happen to live +/- a few days. In my area we are in late pre-rut heading into the seeking phase. This happens at the same time every year. The end of this week will start the chasing phase and next week will be prime time breeding phase. Happens the same time every year.

Yep just all depends in the weather and moon right now in what you are seeing.

Yesterday I had 5 bucks all chasing the same doe, running, grunting they were acting like she was hot. One of the best mornings ever as far as witnessing rut activity. And I am in a area with minimal deer.

If anything, with the full moon being tonight, this year's rut is going to about as "on time" as it could get.

Last year the rut was late with the moon falling on the 13th and it made for some frustrating hunts. This is going to as classic of a rut as we are going to get.

Well that is why I said I hope it is late. Sitting all day and not seeing one buck cruising was very surprising to me. Must be my spot??????

I also threw everything but the kitchen sink at the bucks. Grunted, rattled, decoyed and nothing.

The rut by no means Is In full swing yet anywhere GFY, have patience. Sitting out there hunting Isn't a gaurantee either, ones gotta be set up right also. And If you are set up right one hunt could be great then the next 3 or 4 can suck. That's the rut for ya, you just never know. A hot doe can change all of that In a blink of an eye though. Ask Tribal, he experienced It yesterday.
