Every field, clearing, logging road, power line. I even let my wife drive most of the time so I can look for deer.

Letting a woman drive is more dangerous than staring out the window for long periods of time.

Earlier this year scouting I about hit a deer while breaking my neck looking out the window at some other deer. Luckily, my girlfriend is a pretty sound backseat driver and alerted me the fawn stepped out into the road. I got on the brakes just in time and she got out of the way. Ironic.

I'd rather take my chances than receive driving instructions the whole time I am driving.

My son is now 15 and I have been training him to be my chauffer. Of course I still have to pay attention to what he is doing but he really is a very safe driver already and has already passed his driver's test. (The drivers ed teachers can conduct the test) Now he just has to wait until August to get his license, then I can go back to looking for deer... legally.

I've been guilty of that most of my life. Its a wonder, that I have never had an accident - except I hit a deer once.

I'm a perpetual deer looker year round. After so long my ex stopped bothering telling me to watch the road. I've never came close to causing any accidents, so she just got used to it.

I do find it funny if I have a person in the car that isn't used to me and they are either amazed that I spot deer driving 70 mph down the highway or terrified.

Is it "Honey: why don't you drive and I'll look for the deer for you... I'll tell you if I see anything... okay?" To which you respond: "That sounds great but you missed the last three!"

I do that as well. I have also used my hunting GPS to see what woods was around me. You know, just incase it looked good enough to go knock on a door or two. I have found a few properties I will be knocking door on after the season is over.
