i just picked up some 3 blade 100 grain muzzy's. they shot very accurate and quiet. but i shot the bottom of my target and it hit the target it at an angle going down out of hte target after about 4 inches through the target hitting the ground. the tip is completely destroyed with a huge crack running down the center. the tip is over the ferrel. and the aluminum ferrel is peeled back a little. i love everything about them, but now i wonder about thier durability. should i buy the wasp sst hammer?

That's really weird. Was there a rock under the target?

nope. its just ground. but even if there was a small rock or even plywood, i would expect very little damage. i wouldnt expect the tip to be that badly damaged. the blades are fine. i was shooting thunderheads, they seems a little more durable. i did loooove how they flew and how the hiss that the thunderheads made was gone. im going outside to shoot them again, right now.

I honestly shoot my muzzys at the ground all the time. Heck, I'll skip them across the driveway to take out squirrels and starlings. I occasionally mangle a blade but I've never broke the ferrule.

(well, I have broke the ferrule if I shoot into a tree and try to wrench it out. No broadhead takes that too good.)

Either there was something really hard down under that target or you have a defective head. Maybe take a picture of it and send it to muzzy. I'm sure they'd want to know.

definitly sounds like a defective head if you didnt hit anything but dirt. I show muzzy's for 5+ years with great results

I use muzzy's also. Only time they ever busted like that was when I shot a big old rock. Could be a freak accident.

You have a defective head or you did hit something. Those are tanks and at most I have had bent blades. Something happened there to cause that.

Absolutely agree with the above sentiments.

I've seen them shot into 55-gallon barrels with less damage than you describe... I've personally seen them shot into spinal columns and shoulder blades and remain absolutely intact (not by me; they're in a friend's bow shop).

My vote would be rock you didn't know was there, but either way something's wrong. Contact Mark at Muzzy ([email protected]), tell him Greg told you to get in touch with him so you can figure out what happened. He may want you to send the head in so he can examine it, because that's not right.
