I know Rage Broadheads are a huge issue between bowhunters and I was tired of people showing me their kills and trying to convince me how Rages are "The Best Broadhead in the World". They're not. Here is a video I made showing the broadheads I've shot that are bent & broken. Not talking smack... just showing you actual broadheads so you quit thinking I'm making things up. Sure post pix of you kill... or two. Start stackin em up like I have and lay out all your broadheads. Honestly take a real good look at them and get back to me. I imagine you blankly staring at them and thinkin to yourself "Ah **** he was right... but Rages are still the best... I think..."

    Here we go...

I don't think anyone thinks they are the most durable broadhead out there. They aren't, anything with an aluminum ferrule and a huge cutting diameter won't be as durable. With that said, they do leave ridiculous wound channels in deer. I've shot 13 deer with them now, so I think I've got a bit of experience with them. If they are bent after the shot, it will show up on an arrow rolling tool and in the garbage can they go, and I replace with a new one. I don't really mind paying a few bucks to keep fresh ones on my arrows.

X2 .. the broadhead is definately a killer but a REPEAT killer it is not. I love em and will pay the extra to keep em fresh. If you want a REPEAT killer than definately get fixed blade. Anything mechanical has it flaws.

Dude... I'm not trying to be a prick... but you just spent 14:13 of your life Convincing us that your not 100% confident in Rage Broadheads... Good for you. I shot T3's this year... I didn't feel confident in them so I switched to a fixed blade... Thats me.

    Same as you with rage.

With that being said.... I used to shoot rage... I dropped down to a 60lb bow and didn't want risk the KE factor with rages...

But my beef is.... Why IN this world would someone not replace blades after every shot? I would never use the same blades that I had shot previously...I don't care if they still cut the hair on my arm, (which rage doesn't do from the factory) talk about not fair to the animal... every head you showed, the ferrule was fine... replace the blades and move on... the two that had jacked up blade... High shoulder shot's perhaps? No rages aren't the toughest head out there, no mechanical is... but stay off that shoulder and you'll be fine... get your deer, replace your blades(no matter what head your using or what condition the blades are in) and move on...

I don't mind replacing blades on a BH after the shot, I just didn't like replacing the whole head. I've killed with Rage heads before, but out of six shots one ferrule wasn't bent, that ain't cool. I'll stick to BR2 and Slick Trick Mags, I've yet to bend/break a ferrule on either.

Even when I used fixed heads I chose to use a new broadhead on each deer. Not the most economical choice, but always felt confident in the strength of blades and sharpness. But lets face it, I don't think any of us got into to Archery and Bowhunting because they were the cheapest options! If you do not want to shoot the Rage, then don't. I just don't understand why people continuously try to convince those of us that use them that they are not a good choice. Long term durability is not what they are for, they are for large wound channels with the proper set up. I cannot be swayed away until I have a negative experience. Lets focus on more productive hunting threads. Everyone wants to think they are right, and I understand that, but there are dozens of broadhead choices so no one way is perfect.

I have never used a rage and have never wanted too. I have actually not really ever wanted to use any mechanicals. As far as the blades go, I understand them breaking as do some fixed blades. I didn't hear you mention was you have never had one fail to open which is what I personally hear the most or open in flight. Never understood how someone could know for sure they opened in flight though. Arent you supposed to replace replaceable blades after you use a broadhead if they are screwed up? How much are the replacement blades?

I missed a week ago and using a NAP Thunderhead razor and burried it a good 6"-8" in the dirt. Took it home cleaned it up, resharpened the blades and its good to go. had it been almost any mech head I feel sure I would have had to replace the blades.

I am currious as to what others that have used them say have to say.

The question of why ppl wouldnt replace the blades? I would if i thought the broadhead's structural integrety wasnt compromised. I never shot a rage twice. Never wanted to change the blades because i think of them as a disposable, one time use broadhead.

Why can't everyone just admit the following: Every single broadhead on the market can, has and will continue to kill whitetails; if the hunter does their part.

If that's how you feel confident then no argument here... I just don't see "Bent or broken" blades as a compromise in structural integrity, replace them and Kill again... but that's me.

Now a bent Ferrule... would be trashed immediately, no argument there.

Just by the way your video sounded, I took it that you would have reused the head, blades and all if they weren't bent.

I used rage 2 blade and loved the blood trail it caused. Sold here! But, I replace the blades after I shoot them, unless, I'm shooting Zombies.

I shoot mechanicals because if/when I loose a deer I know it wasn't error on my part, darn mechanicals never open or fall apart on impact. My ego really likes a good excuse!

After the high shoulder shot debate, I'm not sure why anyone would bother to take your advice on anything bowhunting related.

I would never re-use a broad head. I don't doubt they get destroyed when they hit something hard. I've seen that first hand many times but don't put anymore thought into then just that. So does every other head on the market. IMO, a dead dear is a dead dear regardless of the head condition. So I will stick with heads that cause massive wound channels and blood lose. I don't even use Rage heads however I know a lot of people that do. I will go as far as to say the Rage has killed more deer than ANY other mechanical on the market. A lot of us have over $1000 just in our bows. I am not going to complain about spending $15 on a new BD. I feel it’s my responsibility to do everything I can to get a clean, ethical kill. I owe it to the animal I am harvesting. I consider hunting to be a hobby. From my experience most hobbies are expensive.

You put a bad shot on a deer and caught some heat for it. It's your choice to make that high shoulder shot. Your bummed, I've been there. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Whether that means stop taking that high shoulder shot or switching to a new head that you believe will resolve the issue is your choice.
