Gold tip in 400 or 340. I would go 340 because I like to shoot a stiff arrow. I shoot a 300 spine.

So I called another archery shop in the area. Gave him all the info. He spent a lot of time asking all the questions that have been asked here. When it was all said and done he said to either buy CE 250 or GT 400

Wait, so your friend doesn't need a .500 or .600 spine?

Ell-if-I-know. Im leaning towards the Gold tips.

Besides because he is neither a child nor petite woman, he cant use a .500 or .600. Unless of course he posts in another thread.

As aggravating as this correspondence with you has been, I only continued in an attempt to save your friend and any animals he would have shot at with the wrong setup from you. Looks as though like it worked, he won't be shooting youth arrows now.

Thanks for all the help. 400 GT sounds like the solution.

Coming into this late but im boggled as well with this info these shops are giving you....My girlfriend who draws a 37lb children's bow shoots a 500 spine arrow. Your buddy def needs a 340 as Im sure with his big stature will be bumping up his draw weight sooner than later. With out the need of cutting the arrow because of his long draw length he will not be stiffening the sine either by cutting the shaft down so I would go stiffer with a 100gr head. I rather be on the stiff side than the weak side any day anyway. Buckeye is completely right in everything he has said and so have the others chiming in. I would stop dealing with these shops giving you this horrible advice and both of you do more diligence and research of your own to have a better understanding cause like stated you owe it to the animal to do "your" part. Glad he wont be shooting a children's arrow now either and best of luck to you both

Thanks hardwoods. It seems I was getting some bad info from one shop which prompted me to call the other shop. He is contemplating a brass insert and a 125 grain head as he has a bug about higher FOC that somebody has feed him.

Oh geez... Back to the clown show if he shoots brass insets and 125 grain heads on .400 spine shafts!

Great plan, but would need executed with a .340 spine shaft.

This whole time buckeye has been saying 340 is the way to go. Then you start talking about 500 and 600 spine which are horrible. You eventually settle on a 400 spine which is not great but better. And now a 400 spine with all that tip weight might as well be a 500. If he wants a ton of tip weight 300 or 340 are the only spines he should use. This question was answered in Buckeyes first post. It did not need to turn into this.

I'd go with Goldtip 7595 shafts with that long of an arrow. I use the same uncut shafts for my turkey setup with 125 Gr Magnus bullheads. Good luck!
