Some of you might remember my post awhile back declaring I was going to try and mount my Buck from last season http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?30888-Ok-im-gonna-mount-my-own-Buck Well I got as far as getting the proper measurements, skinning the face and cutting the skull cap. Well I finally got around to placing an order today. Got the manikin, eyes, hide paste, needle and thread and critter clay on the way. Im going the Bondo method on the ears since I already have some. I have been studying reference material and have two Videos from start to finish I have been watching. Im tanning using Krotan that I already had. SO Stay tuned in the next several weeks, should be making progress and will post pics as I go! Oh yeah bought forgot,,,made my own mounting stand to! WOO HOO

When you bondo the ears, make sure you don't put in too much hardener. This will give you more time to work them into shape.

Don't ask me how I know this!! :bash:

That is very cool. I have always, always wanted to try doing this myself as well. For some reason, I think I could really get into it and have a knack for it (always been artistic, etc. Thanks dad)

Please keep us posted and take pics along the way. I would love to see and read from someone doing it for the first time and what you run into.

I'm anxious to see how it goes!

Good luck Crick, you definately have some guts to mount a buck like that for your first one.
