In GA season opens mid Oct with archery hunters having the first chance at harvesting a whitetail. I have been hunting since Oct, and have only seen one deer during shooting hours (a buck I should have shot, but didn't because I was playing on my phone). I have hundreds of nocturnal deer activity captured on my trail cams. Deer activity during daylight hours is almost non-existent on the cams. I will admit, this year has been tough for me. My wife's grandfather (who is in the beginning stages of dementia) decided to help me with my food plots twice by mowing them down. He thought it would make it easier for me to get through the field if the grass wasn't so tall. Then to top it off, he decided to kill ants using gasoline. He drizzled fuel on every ant bed he saw. I couldn't get mad with him, he doesn't know any better. To add to his help, he isn't a hunter, and never has been. He has no clue about the lengths we go through to harvest a deer. So, who wants to have pity on me and take me hunting? I know there are deer out there. I just can't seem to bag one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I definitely learned that lesson. I kick myself every time I think about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well you read my now I'm reading yours I know how you feel different but same. I hope things get better.
Are you hunting afternoons? Have you moved stand locations? Have you found any scrapes or rubs to hunt near? Right now the deer are still rutting a little and hitting the food back and forth so anything can happen out there. Eventually there will be a second bigger rut if it hasn't started already so try and dedicate multiple sits in a row and you might just get lucky. Make sure to mind the wind and cover your scent, and hunt the overcast days.
