I've been hunting this one nice 8 pointer here lately. I know I'm in his core area because I've seen him about 5 times within a week. Every tine is tall and bleach white. I've moved my climber just about every sit trying to close the deal. Should have listened to my gut this evening. I got to where I had sit last night and started to wander a little farther, as if to find another tree to occupy. I turned around and climbed the one from yesterday anyway, ignoring my gut feeling. Well what do you know... Mr. Big Boy come right by that spot! I grunted my butt off trying to get him to me but he didn't care. Tonight was the closest I've been, which was about 55-60 yards. I'm going to move my stand tomorrow and I'm praying he will repeat what he did today, unlikely but I'm hopeful. Tomorrow evening after work is pretty much my last shot at him for a good week and a half. I tried postponing the wedding but that didn't fly and canceling the honeymoon is out of the question. So, December 15th will be my next hunt. Also, last night while hunting this guy; another shooter came by. He was a smaller eight with a rack about as wide as his ears. I get him stopped at 25 yards and settle my pin and squeezed the trigger. I heard the most eerie noise you'd want to hear as a bowhunter. Sounded like a maul had just pounded my bow. Nope, my bottom cam hit my treestand frame as I shot (awkward shot). Put a pretty good nick in my stand and my cam's outer edge got bent outwards. Still shoots fine though. Ended up being a clean miss. Wish me luck!
OUCH, I would make sure your bow is OK before going back out. The cam could be cracked or maybe even a cracked limb.
I did check it out last night really good. It seems fine. I put about 20 arrows through it when I got home (after the thorough inspection of course).
Careful with that. My dad went through that last year, only it was in a box, and the rail was a 2x4. The strings let loose, and when they put it on the bow press, they found out that somehow the riser had bent??? Now he shoots a Growler, and shys away from the boxes.
I'll keep that in mind but like I say, it seems to be fine. However, I will admit. I never thought about it bending the riser but its a Bowtech. They're indestructible you know. :d
