    Mchenry County Opener

Went out opening day warm out but saw a coyote at about 60 yards before he busted me and had a Doe and her fawn walk under my stand. Not bad for a warm windy opener. I hunt Mchenry County

I was out on the mornings of the 1st and 2nd. Saw a doe and fawn early opening morning but that was it. Will be back out this weekend! Was hoping to get out tomorrow but work screwed up our schedules so was hoping with the different schedule I could drive out to my lease 2.5 hours away but they are calling for thunderstorms all day Saturday so I don't want to drive that far to not even get to hunt.

Deer activity was good this weekend. Bucks aren't moving until after dark in my areas though.
Any predictions on the rut this year? When have you guys seen the most buck activity in the past?

buck activity before dark if it gets cold fast enough. saw a nice one tonight. might look into the lone wolf tree stands if i could set up a stand there and take it down when i feel like it would be great.

I've been out three times and haven't seen any bucks besides the young guys. Pulled cards on cams about two weeks ago and had a couple here and there. Only one was during daylight, about 6-630. If its anything like last year didn't start seeing them until about week or two before shotgun season. Crops are starting to come out though so may start seeing them if weather stays cool.

Is there a law on how much orange we have to wear as a bowhunter or is that up to us? Or is it just for our safety to wear orange? Never hunted during youth season so don't really know about this.

I believe it is 400" of orange, which would usually be a hat and vest. However, the laws change and we are talking Illinois so I would check now and before Saturday.;)

This is from the IL H&T digest.
A solid blaze orange cap/hat and an upper
outer garment displaying at least 400
square inches of solid blaze orange material
must be worn.Camouflage blaze orange material does not
    meet the requirements.

Do you guys call in your deer or go to the DNR office? I called in on my doe and there was a question that shocked me. It was if I saw any wild pigs or Hogs. Are they around or are they moving up from the south? I haven't seen any news about this.
