rybek2, here in northern IL we had over 4 inches of rain between Monday and Tuesday. You did not get any down your way? I have to wait until Saturday evening which is fine. For early season I have zero stands that I can safely get into without bumping deer. Plus, have to watch the kids 'til 1:30. The good news....the forecast if for a NE wind for our area which means I will be sitting my BEST stand location on opening evening. Typically, I can not get into this stand until around Halloween. Wishing you guys/gals all the best for the IL opener and be safe!!
We got maybe an inch, two at most. I am literally about to have a panic attack sitting here at work. Way to anxious right now.
There is some really good medication for that... Seriously, that is a tough feeling, but it is right around the corner. I had the same feeling a couple of weeks ago prior to the WI season. I was fortunate enough to get a doe Sunday AM and that is probably why I am not ready to explode with anticipation for the IL opener. Take a deep breath 'cause Saturday will be here shortly with cool front with it!!
No kidding. High winds today and tomorrow, then they calm down for Saturday with a high of 63 and low of 38. Could we ask for a better opening day? I think not!
Heavy rain this past week. Forecast for a low of 41 and high of 63 for Saturday. Clear with a 13 mph N wind. Should be a great start. Good luck y'all from southern Il.
Not if I can beat you first! OK, this might not be a booner, but he would be my best buck to date. This weekend will be my best chance to get a shot at this guy. I have been chasing him for 3 seasons now on a small 10-15 acre plot of land with a marsh completely surrounded by cropland. Once the crops are out, the deer are gone until March. I had 2 opportunities during the '09 season, but never laid eyes on him last season. I know he is out there and his plan is to walk past my stand with me on his blind (right) side Saturday evening around 6:30 PM. At least I hope that is how it goes! Typically I go 12-15 sits at this property between deer sightings. Not much available private land here in McHenry County.
I'm going to be in my stand in 17 hours, that's right boys and girls 4 am. I hope the deer aren't eating acorns as I approach in dark night. My plan is simple get there realy freak early and hope deer come into woods shotgun after to get some snacks before vexing down. I have a lot of day activity on this cam which tells me they bed right there. Oh God help me now. I had a night vision scope that I'll be using to get my stand. Ninja style all the way yow.
