Ayone going out this weekend here in Illinois.
I am still tossing the idea around but I have'nt decided for sure yet. I was going to go out for an evening hunt today but 84 degrees I think is going to be a bit much for secent and my biggest worry if the deer meat after a shot if I got to take one down.

I am taking my 8 year old out tonight. It's a little hot, but the wind is perfect for a beding area I have a double blind on. It was pretty warm last Sunday evening, but I saw a ton of deer out of this blind, and the wind was wrong for them to come in close enough for a shot. Not going out this weekend b/c it is youth gun season and I don't like to wear orange while I bow hunt.

For those that do choose to venture out, don't forget that blaze orange is required Saturday and Sunday for youth firearm season.

Should have a good cold front move through mid to late next week, think I'll wait until then.

One spot at my parents is perfect for a south wind and it is right next to a prime bedding area. It is even easier access with the south wind.

So I'm gonna focus there this weekend and try to catch them right out of bed chowing down acorns. Tons of them around the area too.

I will also wait a little longer to get into the stand. I run no risk of spooking them on the way in and no risk of spooking them with a south wind.

If this wasn't the case I probably wouldn't be going out with these temps.

Too FREAKING WARM! Sat last night and filmed a buddy. Wind was perfect, and the spot we were in, we see deer 95% of the time...nothing! Not going out this weekend, wish whoever is the best of luck, and prove us wrong!

    Michael,
You should pack a cooler with ice just incase. I decided to do this a couple of years ago during Shot gun season and boy was I glad I did. I shot an 8-point around 9:30 AM and it was already 50 out, by the time I made to the barn to grab the 4 wheeler that wouldn't start it reached almost 60. My buddy and I had to drag this deer out by hand over 100 acers up hil mostly. I was wearing shorts when I went to drag him, but the deer was extremly hot from dragging it through the pastures and fields in the Sun. I packed the deer with the ice as soon as we got it to the truck 12:30. When I dropped it off at the locker they had a few deer that were spoiled from the heat. mine was fine because i was able to pack it with ice and cover it for the 2 hour drive to the locker.

if you don't kill a deer then you can use the ice for the beer, that you didn't finish while drinking in the stand. lol

Well, I went out this morning and saw two bucks. One was passing when I could hardly see him. Not sure what he was but saw some light reflect off his antlers. I then had this little fella pass at 5 yards at 8:00 am.

nice pic dawg. I went out and got in my stand at about 5 a.m.
once I was up there for about a 1/2 hr. my trail cam flash started going off. By the time day light broke they were ghosts.
talk about frustrating. I was checking my card that I took out while I was waiting for day light and saw a few nice mature does on it yesterday morning at about 6:45 til 8 a.m.
I'll get back out inthe morning and try again
