Have an opportunity to hunt Illinois late season but I am unfamiliar with this part of Mid-West. Does anyone have advise for late season (dec 27) archery hunt in Pike county? Thanks for the time guys! Ps - how do you upload a profile pic?? Maybe it's just the iPad and I need to use a PC.
I have hunted early season in Pike County. By county, Pike has the most harvests for deer year in and year out in Illinois with quite the "Booner" reputation. You will be hunting, arguably one of the best counties in the nation. With that said, we were not successful and I don't think all of Pike County is created equal. You are on the right website and someone will help you more than me.
depending on our winter (the harsher the better), you will want to find a good food source that the deer are consistently hitting then find the nearest bedding area and setup on a trail in between the two. hope this helps austin
One thing about Pike County: it gets hunted HARD. Be prepared for the deer to be even more freaked out by Dec. 27 than ordinary. I used to hunt outside of Pittsfield. I think some of those communities make half their revenue just during gun seasons.
