Seeing a few scrapes being worked. Deer are moving very early and very late, mostly due to this outrageously warm weather. A low of around 60 each night, and daytime temps in the upper 70's isn't helping things. IMO, I think we are at least a week away from any noticeable rutting behavior. We could use a good cold snap........and a frost/freeze. I'm thinking about breaking out the camo shorts! :-)
I've had buck hitting my mock scrape fairly often, but most movement seems to be at night. I hunted that cold front last weekend and it was the first time I had seen deer on stand (small spike around 9am, and a forkhorn around noon) As far as sign is concerned, I've found one scrape that didn't seem to get hit too often, but it was fresh, and a small rub.
havent been in the woods a whole lot. my rutcation starts this friday but on the way home from work today i saw 2 huge headless buck bodies hit on the side of highway 55/70 in between Collinsville and Edwardsville IL
Sat all day. No chasing going on. Saw plenty of does and my woods has lots of bucks. I didn't see a single one today
where did you hunt selfbros? im going to hit st. jacob this fri/sat then headed southern IL for few days then come back mid week.
How's the rutting activity in southern Illinois with the warm temps? We got a 7 day hunt starting the 10th of November just trying to find out what we have in front of us. Thanks for any info
Nothing as if yet. But it should be just starting hobby the 10th. Sat all day Wednesday in a known chasing area and didn't see a single buck plenty of does though
It's going good this am in northern il. Have seen ten bucks this morning range from spikes to a wide and low 8 but no does today. Yesterday and Thursday buck were chasing hard.
