Are you kidding, wtf is wrong with the ppl that run this state. How can the courts keep agreeing with this crap, there's no point in making the decision they made in Dec if your not goin to stand behind it. My only comfort is where I live my county and the counties around me already passed ccw in a feeler vote all by over 75% and the closest home rule doesn't effect me because I can easily avoid.
A- credit rating and losing an additional 17 million each day isn't enough. They have to give home rule communities enough time to ban the scary guns, it's the only thing that can save this state. Once black guns are gone the legislators will no longer have to worry about common sense laws and can go back to defrauding the states residents and to rob them of the money that should have been routed to Chicago to begin with. You can't balance the budget without making Chicago dems rich.
Madison County prosecutor will no longer enforce no-carry law in Illinois : News Well this is one way to stop all the bs.
Simon Urges Communities To Enact Assault Weapons Ban | FOX 55/27 Illinois | Illinois Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon is urging communities to consider banning assault weapons before a concealed carry law hits the books. Thankfully, it seems downstate cities aren't considering it. Lots of luck to the folks up north.
Apparently Quinn is set to do an amendatory veto tomorrow. Surprisingly it isn't an all out "assault" weapon and magazine ban among other things. Going to be much ado about nothing as next Monday or Tuesday it will be null and void as hopefully both chambers override it. Haven't hearduch on what Lisa Madigans plans are, but this will make her react if she is going to. I'd like to say we're near the endpoint, but then I remember what sate I live in and which city actually controls it. My focus and point to breathe a sigh of relief is July 23, as the 22nd is the last day L. Madigan can appeal to the SCOTUS.
You can watch Quinn stick it to the people of Illinois live now: 7-2-13 Gov. Pat Quinn Amendatory Veto to HB 183 "Concealed Carry". on Livestream
I find it funny in several news articles I've read he get keeps bringing up that if the NRA would of been left out of the debates we would of had a "common sense" bill. Funny seeing as Todd V stated several times he was no part of the final bill, nor the NRA. It was all Phelps and madigan for most part. Maybe if the governor spent more time in the capital, where bills are discussed, instead of Chicago he'd know what was goin on.
Today's the day. Quinn's amendatory veto should be overridden in both chambers and the bill enacted as public act at the conclusion of the senate vote. Quinn also has his amendatory veto as amendment 2 on HB011 in the senate. Witness slips can be filed on this. Fields to check: Original Bill- No position on merits SFA2- Opponent Testimony- Record of appearance only Be careful if using mobile devices, especially iPad/iPhone, as it sometimes marks the proponent button even when it appears the opponent was touched. It finally went through 47-17 override of quinns veto. We finally have concealed carry in IL. Congrats to everyone who fougt this long battle.
Have to keep an eye on the hous now, as HB1453 was gutted and parts of Quinn's bill was out in that as a trailer bill. It has already passed in the senate and is in the calendar for concurrence in the house. With it needing 71 votes hopefully we can kill it there.
I wouldn't get too excited. The ISP has 180 days to put the permit process in place. Then you'd have get trained from a ISP approved trainer.... and then they have 90 days to issue the permit. ...and that's if they do it on time, and we know how well that works. Don't you also have to sign away certain rights we already have Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk 2
Probably. Admittedly, I'm not following this really closely anymore. Did I mention I'm moving to Utah? heh heh heh....
I gave up when I heard that I would have to give up certain rights with this because they had me on nerve meds for my back after my surgery that they also give people as an anti depression med Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk 2
Way to be a buzz kill Christine ha ha. I agree though it'll be a long wait now before anyone has a license in hand.
Anyone really familiar with the bill that can point me to where it outlines non resident permits? I read on another forum where someone said something is in there where a non resident can get one for $300. I'm supposed to be on the ground out there in November or so.......but I'm still questioning if I'm going to change my residency. If I can get a non resident permit that will allow me to carry outside my car I'll likely keep my NY resident status.
Here is the nonresident wording, sorry if its a bit muddled pasting from my phone. $300 both issuance and renewal. Section 40. Non-resident license applications. (a) For the purposes of this Section, "non-resident" means a person who has not resided within this State for more than 30 days and resides in another state or territory. (b) The Department shall by rule allow for non-resident license applications from any state or territory of the United States with laws related to firearm ownership, possession, and carrying, that are substantially similar to the requirements to obtain a license under this Act. (c) A resident of a state or territory approved by the Department under subsection (b) of this Section may apply for a non-resident license. The applicant shall apply to the Department and must meet all of the qualifications established in Section 25 of this Act, except for the Illinois residency requirement in item (xiv) of paragraph (2) of subsection (a) of Section 4 of the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. (d) In lieu of an Illinois driver's license or Illinois identification card, a non-resident applicant shall provide similar documentation from his or her state or territory of residence. In lieu of a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card, the applicant shall submit documentation and information required by the Department to obtain a Firearm Owner's Identification Card, including an affidavit that the non-resident meets the mental health standards to obtain a firearm under Illinois law, and the Department shall ensure that the applicant would meet the eligibility criteria to obtain a Firearm Owner's Identification card if he or she was a resident of this State. (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act.
