    From our lobbyist

Ok so now a lot of you were made privy to the sausage making of laws. Welcome to the club.

At the end of the day, it was good for us. We beat back 4 hostile amendments, and while they dinged us on some, ourmparking lot language got more votes than almost all of their amendments.

Look at some of the votes we picked up tonight compared to 2 years ago.

Listen to the closing Durkin gave. We should all call his office and say thanks.

The remaining votes are out there. Do we have some tweeks to make to the bill, yes. But we will get a shall issue, statewide bill with preemption.

It was a rough day holding all the factions together. There were highs and lows. Some frustration. But Abolt and I powered through and walked through each and every problem and scenario with cool heads and logic not emotion.

My blood pressure never got above 200. I wasn't always happy, but understand, this was the beginning. And on the opening salvo, we got shall issue with very strong preemption language. We can pass parking lots and resteraunt carry too.

We will, get there, dont worry about the path. Just know that in the road ahead there is light at the end of the tunnel.

    Its beer 30

But know today, we got the best of them

Every last one of us in this state owes Todd a beer for what he deals with.

This sucks! I don't know why I never looked at the calendar, but thought IGOLD was on a Thursday or Friday. I can't do it on Wednesday due to being cut down to 30 hour weeks at work and no vacation time left. Thought back when they had the rally last month someone had mentioned it was pointless to have it on a weekend as legislators weren't in session/offices and that's why they were having IGOLD on a Thursday or Friday.

Ugh, maybe I can pull some strings and swap Wednesday and Thursday at work but doubt it.

You made it down? We were there. It was nice to see the biggest crowd yet, even tho' weather canceled six of the buses. We didn't go to Vinegar Hill, did you go there?

Yep, living in Springfield I just couldn't come up with a justification for not going. Found part of me in a picture on the chicago tribune site. Top center, cut off at the goatee.

I almost got a pic of them at the same time. Kept trying to catch it when the wind straightened the flag but kept missing

Time to hit it hard again guys. Tomorrow they will be introducing another bombardment of bad amendments including another attempt at the magazine ban that narrowly failed last go around. This time they have included a grandfathering in which other reps had asked for last time, but it has added twists. They will make you rgister your existing grandfathered mags and send them in to have serial numbers added to them.

They're running out of time to get things passed over to the senate so we have to be ever proactive for the immediate future. Mai thing to push on your reps is no bad amendments and vote no to anything not NRA endorsed.

House bill 1155 will have the mag ban amendment and if it passes they could vote on the bill soon thereafter and pass it as well. Over 50 amenments have been filed on these bills. Fireworks will be flying tomorrow

1156 is up into the 50's for number of amendments on it as well

    Just got this

Anti-Gun Politicians Continue Attempts to Ram Gun Control Scheme Through State House

A Vote is Imminent – Contact your state Representative NOW!

As previously reported by the NRA-ILA, House Speaker Mike Madigan continues to force votes on dozens of amendments filed on shell bills in an effort to build his own omnibus gun control bill. Due to Madigan’s trickery and forceful behavior, votes on these amendments have been too close for comfort. House Bills 1155 and 1156 are some of the bills being used as vehicles, and have recently had extreme anti-gun amendments filed on them.

At this time, the list of amendments to these two bills is growing by the minute and contains everything from forcing gun owners to buy $1 million liability insurance and imposing severe restrictions on future Right-to-Carry laws by mandating location restrictions and multiple licenses, to bans on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines. You can view amendments added to HB1156 here and amendments to HB1155 here.

Among others, Amendment 12 to HB 1156 was just filed and would make it unlawful for anyone in Illinois to possess a magazine capable of accepting – and any magazine that could be converted to accept - more than ten rounds. This would effectively ban ALL commonly owned magazines. This issue was defeated last week by only a narrow margin – so it is important that your state Representative understand that a YES vote on Amendment 12 is an unacceptable violation of your rights!

Time is of the essence: These anti-gun amendments will be voted on in the state House TOMORROW and anti-gun politicians are turning up the heat to get your state Representative to vote against your Second Amendment rights in Springfield. Urge your state Representative to stand strong in the face of these deceptive tactics and vote to protect YOUR Second Amendment rights! The House floor votes are close, so every call AND e-mail to your state Representative will make a difference.

Remind your state Representative that he or she represents you! Call AND e-mail them NOW. Don’t let them get away with punishing law-abiding citizens for the acts of criminals!

I haven't lost them yet, but if I do in the near future I'm screwed. I'll have a couple manually loading single shot AR's.

I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow truthfully, last go around they were three votes shy of passing the amendment and if they had gotten it, they would have called the bill up for 2nd reading and again for third to send it off to the senate. I've still yet to hear how much support we have on the senate side. I know Cullerton isn't our friend, and just how much power does Madigan have overall even on the senate side.

Quinn will turn any bill coming his way into an all out ban and the most restrictive carry law he can with his veto. He'll never sign a preemptive shall issue carry law, never.

Yea idk with them trying to sneak all this crap in its hard to say what will happen. I know one thing if it gets too stupid around here I'll be taking all my stuff the 30 miles west it takes to get to MO. My whole thing is how csn they pull all this crap with how the courts ruled, making a bill that os ridiculously restrictive is just as unconstitutional as not having a bill at all.

And not to mention a mag bill like that would effect almost every semi-auto firearm.
