My favorite was my own Rep, Rich Brauer talking about Scheels here in Springfield. Was cmoparing it to an amusement park as having a roller coaster, rides and refreshments. She said it wasn't an amusement park. He said his kids would probably think otherwise. She said, kids won't be getting a concealed carry permit, to which he snapped "NO, BUT I AM!!!"
This was from our NRA lobbyist, it's a game now as it stands I guess. Guys i know this is a bit confusing. I will try to get an explination out later. as Abolt and I have been here all day dealing with this. There have been highs, lows and frustration. But know this, this is the begining not the end. We have hashed out a plan today to move forward. And we are both confident we will, prevail in the end Todd Looks like this young kid wrote everything, he's answering for everything asked using their voice as the transport. Madigan doing what he does best. His scapegoat
Watch our people, they keep snickering and laughing after calling out all of these bafoons and their amendments. They voted on HB0997 to come out of committee right after changing the title of the bill. We seen our support for that bill, as good as it would be to have Madigan sponsoring a shall issue CCW bill I believe HB1155 is now just a circus
So basically they're gonna "follow" the courts decision except you can't carry anywhere besides your front yard ha
Like I said, they brought out HB0997 first thing for a purpose. the anti's don't want that bill, yet it was released from the committee they wanted to stall it in never to see the light of day. As soon as it happened the anti's stuck 8 amendments on it. If they were confident on this bill passing they'd have no fear of it. Madigan sucks, this justifies it, look at all the tax dollars at waste for this nonsense.
So I'm still unsure I guess oh wat that mean. They brought it out to avoid all these amendments get stuck to it? Thanks for all your clarifications btw, like I said I'm no sure how all this works other than bills get introduced, debated, and decided which parts pass.
Don't take my words verbatim. There is no way this bill would become law. It goes against everything the 7th ruled against in their unconstitutional ruling on concealed carry ban. They brought out 997 to have the intended bill still available. Lets trash Madigan and his bill as a failure and bring ours out as sensible, to use their words against them. They fight these ammendments in their own way now, so when the bill comes out they know exactly what they're dealing with. Just a guess on my part. I think things got changed on them early on, but they adapted and now it's no holds barred. In the words of Phelps last year, if you don't pass this now, and you will have to eventually, we're not going to negotiate. Or something to that affect
Agggh! Rights are not given to us by the government. They are natural rights. I'd like to kick that guy in the nads.
The anti ccw folks have no problem requiring long hours of training ($$$, time and location), no ccw on public transportation (which most inner-city folks depend on), fees and other things that would unfairly hit inner city minorities... but they balk on Phelp's bill for some imaginary racial profiling??!!
I think they put too much into the range portion of the training. As long as the person demonstrates the abitlity to safely manipulate the weapon during taining what more do they want, follow up training is on the induvidual so that really proves nothing. The importance should be on the classroom protion and use of force and when to actually draw a weapon.
I don't know if that will be in our bill or not, we still have 997 floating out there, so we may abandon this one as well. Wow, this is confusing
Haha yea its definitely confusing, I was merely meaning I see no need in have training that mirrors Leo's or 20 hours of range/classroom like the antis fighted for. They're really concered with the dui thing, which I find funny they voted to allow carry wherever they serve alcohol.
I'm still a bit confused by that. Haven't reread it and figured if it doesn't help them who cares, but think the 40 hours 20 class + 20 range was to exempt previously trained LEO's and such from having to take the training. I could be wrong though. We're only beginning, so many things can happen. Have to remember this was Madigan's bill and his rules in the house. Why'd be dump all those amendments and go straight to 27. A promise to Phelps he would have his vote or was it curiosity to see the support? We're not victorious yet
