Well today is Illinois gun opener, I'm going to be in a tree. I know this is a bowhunting forum but there has to be some gun hunters too so anyone else gun hunting this weekend?

While I wish we had no shotgun season, I paid for tags, so I am heading out to a tree now. If I could shotgun hunt where I bow hunt I would get a nice one....today I have a 20% chance something might walk by...not liking it. But I am thinking I will take a doe or only the buck of a lifetime.

I tagged out on Friday morning. Glad for the meat, and because I shot a doe that I'm sure had busted more than one of my hunts. The heck of it was, I have hunted this stand 6 times during bow season, and had either seen deer at 50 yds, or if close enough to shoot, they were in too much brush. The 2 I shot on Friday were each at about 30 yds and were in the open. If we could bow hunt on our firearm tag (draw a firearm tag, but use the bow to fill it - not use archery tag during gun season) I would have had the bow in the stand with me too. Too bad it's illegal :(

I was tagged out before the sun came up, on Friday.
