Nice score there fellow Madison county resident. Where do you live at in Madison County? Troy, Edwardsville ? I've been reluctant to ask people about hunting in Madison County as I'm sure everyone and their mother has already asked. lol I'm originally from Bond county and by luck have several good friends with land that I'm allowed to play on.
I’ve been doing a lot of evening driving throughout the country side looking for good size bucks. I’m confident that they are either in the Troy bottoms or north of Edwardsville. Either way I see tons of trucks part at every wood line during this part of the year. I need to just hurry up and win the 124 mil Powerball so that I can just buy the hunting rights to all of SIUE. lol

Thank you for the congrat's. I live in the Troy area, and I know what you mean about it being difficult to secure rights to decent hunting ground. There seems to be a problem when you DO obtain permission to hunt a parcel of land: Before you know it, anyone that ever met you seems to think that they are your best buddy, and they can hunt there too! Before long, the land owner sees folks on their land they don't know, and when confronted, they mention your name, and then the whole lot of you gets thrown off the property. That, coupled with folks so willing to sue someone at the drop of a hat, most land owners have just shut down hunting to everyone. Sad, but true.

I was born and raised in this area, and I know a lot of land owners/farmers. Most of them don't allow hunting because of past problems. There are several with prime Whitetail habitat that have it leased. Fortunately, we have land in the family, and we are blessed in that regard. On the same note, I get VERY tired of finding people trespassing on the land. It is well marked everywhere, but folks today have no respect for other people's property. Sorry for the long winded rant...........this is just something that has always bothered me!

SIU has some bruiser bucks holed up out there. I know many people that work at the University........and the stories they tell can keep you up nights! :-)

Yeah, I've understood that Madison County allow more law suits then any other county in IL. I too hate tresspassers. I hunt in the Jamestown bottoms and haven't had any issues in the 3 years of hunting it; however, I've heard many stories from neighbors. One guy was put in the hospital after confronting 2 guys tresspassing. I've pretty much decided that I would be very aggressive to anyone I find without a valid excuse. I have a farm in Highland that ill have executive hunting rights someday, but the mother hates it so its never been hunted ever. It belongs to my other father inlaw (mother-in-laws boy friend for 10 + years.
