In Illinois everything is illegal. I would like to combine a food plot and bait station for trail camera pictures. Food plots are legal and baiting is illegal. I was wondering if there is a certain type of seed for food plots, gardening, crops, etc. that deer love. I will be planting these seeds in the food plot with minimal soil cover and really don't care if they grow. I would be using the seed as the attractant, not the food plot. Is this possible? What do you guys think?

We have food plots. I was looking to mimic a mineral site. Picture a lot of seed in a small area. Covered up with a little dirt of course. And I will be complaining about replanting every week or so.

I've heard of "No Plow" food plots before. Just scatter your seed and call it a no plow food plot. If the deer eat it before it grows, it's not your fault.

Does your thread title really say "F the police" or is Tapatalk acting up?

And if baiting is illegal why are you asking for ways to manipulate the system? Juat curious is all...

I think if you're using the seed as an attractant and get caught, The CPO is not gonna buy your story. They're not stupid, and they don't give breaks.

Im sure im not the only person here who finds "F the police" offensive. Add to the mix that your deliberately trying to break the law. Not in good taste.

As a Marine corps military police officer I find your opening quote to be offensive as well.

It was meant for entertainment. Nothing else. It should have went to the water cooler probably and with different words. I will request my account deleted and move on. Sorry if I offended, not my intention. Good day gentleman.

I believe in my opinion baiting is only good if your the only one baiting. (Illinois allows up to a few weeks b4 the season)
That is my opinion, due to the fact of seeing hunters in Michigan baiting. Causing deer behavior to become erratic.
Of course it's legal in the upper where I hunt, with restrictions.
I also believe that food plots are good as long as your neighbor doesn't "Out Plot You"
Of course that's my opinion. I'm sure food plots will be regulated in the soon future.

if you are baiting for the purpose of feeding your deer properly and for inventory, then i see no problem. If you want to do it during hunting season then i find it wrong. if you bait right now, it's not like you can hunt yet so its just throwing money away for the moment.

If the motivation is to bait under a disquise it's still baiting and not ethical and should not be done IMO.

Baiting if illegal year round is wrong year round. No justification changes such things and is how we need to raise our younger hunters, new hunters and children if we have them...the sport is only as good as we (hunters) keep and make it.

*I am not necessarily saying this in response to you because I don't feel you stated anything wrong, but it made me think of this.

Illinois does not allow feeding of deer, anything, anytime, anywhere.

And Frenchbritt, no need to pack up and move on. You have apologized, it's all good.

From my understanding as long as the crop was grown in the field it can be distributed in the same field however you desire.

Re-examine the baiting laws in Illinois, I familiarized myself with them quite fervently when I had the possible chance of having a family relative's place to hunt but found out they had "corn" plots....needless to say decline and chewed their ear out about it.
