I personally havent seen much activity in illinois. Was wondering what everyone elses experience is and times
Yeah kankakee county and kendall county had lots of game cam photos all summer and fall and its been dead since opening day
Things are picking up on the Menard/Cass border. Last weekend I had a sit where I saw 4 different bucks. I sure wish I could be in the stand right now. I just talked to my dad and the shooter buck that I saw last weekend has been seen several times this week crossing the highway back and forth to the land we hunt. I'll definitely be putting in a lot of stand time this weekend.
Bucks are starting to cruise in Jersey County looking for that first doe in heat. I saw bigger bucks last weekend than I've seen all season during daylight. It's very very close, be in the stand whenever you can the next 2 weeks.
Seeing a very steep increase in activity lately. My mom had a nice 2.5 yo 8 point cruising at 5 P.M. last night. She grunted and snort wheezed at it to get a better look and it responded, but she passed.
Have only seen one deer while in stand this season in McHenry county and that was a young buck. Not surprised as the DNR has reduced the deer population in the past number of years since CWD was discovered. I keep trying though!!
Not much happening in Adams County but the land I hunt in Mclean County has been pretty good so far this year. I have passed on quite a few small ones and have seen two nice ones but they never got in range...crossing my fingers for the next couple of weeks!
Bucks chasing last night in the last hour of shooting light...also two others fighting...no shooters yet, but its definitely picking up in central il...it has been absolutely dead prior. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
That is all you can do! You have to be out there to kill one so keep going you will get it done! I sat from 5:30 am to 11:00 am with not one deer seen! It is very slow!
Rattled 3 different bucks in two days ago...passed 2, busted by one (nice one) around 4 pm. Have noticed chasing and bucks moving as early as 2 pm in Winnebago County as early as last week.
Champaign county i've seen some decent movement...I wouldn't call it "spectacular" but it's certainly better than 'nothing' =)
I also have more scrapes so I am sure that it is just a matter of time now. I put some buck lure in all 6 scrapes that are on the edge of the spot where my stand is at. I hope that makes them made to come more often. Or at least that is wishful thinking on my part!
Last weekend in Mchenry county I called in a small 7 point with an estrus bleat. They're looking for the first available does. Things are picking up.
