I didn't see anyone talking about Illinois yet this year so I figured I'd get the conversation going. Bow opener is only 10 days away. The excitement is killing me. Who's hunting and where? Any shooter's on camera yet? Good luck to everyone hunting Illinois this year.

I'm super excited as well! Not sure if Sunday will be my first sit. But if not Tuesday even most likely will be. But I am pump and have a few nice deer hanging around. Shelby county

These last 4 days have been 10 times longer than any other week of the year. I'm hunting Grundy County for opener. I actually have school off on Friday and Monday so it is going to work out perfectly. Insanely excited.

I'm ready but I still have so much to do. Don't see myself making it out for opener but I'm patiently awaiting the last week of Oct. it's still too damn hot right now!

Now that the weather is cooling down, I'm planning on sitting Monday. If anything gets an arrow, it'll be a turkey or dang big buck. Clark County is my starting point this year.

Come on let's see those Illinois brutes on the ground! Jealous I'm at work today but it was voluntary. I kick myself every year for not having more East wind setups. Oh well temps are looking good for next weekend too

IMG_0834.JPG Not a Illinois deer, shot across the state line in Indiana. Brother lives south of Terre Haute now and it was shot on his place behind the house. Said the guy told him that there were 2 bigger bucks out there. He texted me yesterday that a NR tag was $150. Might have to check it out.

Hunted last night and this morning in Pike County. Nothing doing. Didn't even see a deer. Hopefully the action starts to pick up over the next few weeks.

I hunted Sunday and the wind was just terrible. The local grain company estimates that the corn harvest in our area is roughly 65 percent complete. Well it seems like the farmers around the ground I hunt must be in the 35% group because there is still so much standing corn in spot.

Looking for some knowledge. Do you avoid hunting when corn is standing?

Would you hunt over standing corn?

I will hunt over standing corn. It's just there is so much of it that depending on the weather if the deer are bedded in it they have no reason to come out.

I really like hunting fresh cut corn.

    Thanks for the input.

Saw this nocturnal brute on my cam hanging out by standing corn.

Just a follow-up question. Once the cut corn is consumed, do you avoid hunting over eaten corn fields? Will deer always come back in search for left overs?

Late season I will come back to cut corn and beans especially if the field hasn't been worked by the farmer.
