This past weekend my 2 kids and I traveled down to Northern Kentucky where we met my mom and stepdad from Tennessee at our lease.

The last couple years we planted food plots earlier but we noticed that the deer hardly gave it a chance to grow and kept it mowed down faster then it could come up. The amount of deer we got on camera within the first few weeks was almost double of what we had on camera a couple months later and the beginning of season. So we decided to plant late and hope we catch just the right time when the plants are starting to sprout when they hit it the hardest in the past.

We got the camper all in place and had to have a new AC installed earlier that day since the old one was fried. This is where we would sit in the mornings and evenings glassing the distant fields. That weekend we watched 5 different bucks (2 for sure shooters) and countless doe.

Enough sitting around it was time to get to work. With a mixture of some elbow grease and some help from the utility vehicle we were able to get things planted. A special thanks to the land owner for taking time and taking a disc to the ground for us. Soybeans were the plant of choice for us.

Now it was time to set up a few stands. I will only bore you with one picture of that since this is the food plot section. But it was placed on a food plot so I think it meets the standards.:ninja:

After a long days work that produced sweat, blood and turns out poison ivy :(, we decided to bust out the bows and reward ourselves with some shooting time. Here is my 10 year old showing off his skills.

Nice looking plot and spot to hunt. Is your son's bow a High Country?

See to me thats what it is all about, you seem to enjoy the hunt more when you put in the time and effort.. See those deer in the plots you have planted and the reward, if the good lord willing, get to arrow a Big Ole buck out of it.... Looks good and best of luck to you this season..
