on May 18th. Just got back from the docs, I am having hip surgery, hopefully not the total hip replacement, but a less invasive form called hip resurfacing. I have some bone spurrs along with most of my cartilage being gone. With this fairly new proceedure they just cover the ball of my hip joint with a metal ball and put a metal socket in my hip bone. A lot less recovery time and after 6 months no restrictions on activity. It has been bothering me for about 4 or 5 years now. I decided it was time after a long hike shed hunting about a month ago. I was wondering if I was going to make it back to my truck. A friend had this same surgery 2 years ago and says he wishes he had done it years before that. I'm still planning on making the GTG this summer, but I may not be the most mobile guy there.
Good luck and I hope it goes well, John. My Dad had hip replacement surgery about 8 months ago. So far, so good.
Guess we'll start calling you the bionic man... Good luck bro! Let me know if I can do anything for you.
Good deal.....Glad you are a candidate for that. That procedure sure does sound a lot better than replacement. Guess yer gonna have to learn how to shoot fish while seated, huh? :D
Good luck, Six months is not long at all. I had my knee surgery and its going on eight months now that im restricted just to walking and no running.
Thanks for the well wishes guys and gal. I imagine I'll add quite a few posts to my count come the middle of may through June. You guys will have to keep me entertained. I really need this to be able to get around the hills and valleys on my property and just to live more comfortable. I wouldn't be doing it if I had a choice.
If you need help with anything. Give me a call. I'm just um.. about 3-4 hours away. Be healed up enough to help with the Grafton Kids fishing fair.
Some rough news there John, but at least you are getting it out of the way now. Hope all goes smooth with it and you have a quick recovery.
