Has anyone used or heard of Xtreme hunts out of pike county IL or heart land lodge from the same area. Just looking at booking a 2015 archery hunt and the 2 weeks that are left at 10-26 thru 10-30. And 11-14 thru 11-18. Just wanted to see if any one has any knowledge of one of these and what week would be better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I cannot speak for the hunting at either of those, but you will not find better accommodations than at Heartland. Simply beautiful lodge. There are big deer in the area, and they take their fair share. I used to deliver there at my old job a few times a month, awesome people who run it too.
I live like 10 mins from Xtreme office. Haven't hunted but never really heard anything bad about them. Heartland is very good and have been around for awhile so I'm sure they'd be good to hunt with, and have good people running it. Between the two Heartland would be my pick. As for dates goin off this year I would choose 14-18. Where I hunt the action was really picking up about the beginning of Nov and lasted until those dates, around first firearm season. I was only able to hunt on the weekends but that's when I saw the most daylight movement for bucks this year. But honestly would think you'd have success either option.
I haven't personally hunted with either of them but Gary @ Heartland Lodge has been a customer/friend for a long time and I'll say he's a great guy to work with. I've yet to read a bad review about his business or their hunts in the decade or so I'd have been doing this so I'd have zero reservations about booking a hunt with him. If you're up for considering other areas of the state give Campbell Illinois Whitetails a look as well. I hunted there twice (07 and 08) and had a great hunt both times. They're a good group down there with a lot of ground, a lot of big deer, and very low pressure compared to what you see in the Pike/Adams/Brown areas. Definitely worth a look.
