I'm new to bowhunting (rookie year) and took my first deer to the Antioch Packing House to get processed a few weeks ago. They provided a quick turnaround and the steaks were beautiful. Does anyone know a great place to take the hide in Northern IL or Southern Wisconsin?

    Thanks.

What are you looking to have done with the hide? Are you looking to have a mount done, or just to have the hide tanned?

I don't remember the name of the place but just down the road on 173 just west before you get to Choppers there is a taxidermist on the south side of the road. I haven't been in side to see the shop yet but I heard they do good work.

I was thinking of trying the Antioch Packing house next time I get a deer. I used the Grainery lasttime and they were great.

Grainery is a good place and they turn the meat around quick. As for tanneries I just took my hides Northern IL Taxidermy on 173. They have both treated me fair so far.

    And welcome to Bowhunting.com!

    Thanks Everyone,

This is great information. I'm thinking about getting the hide tanned; I let you know how it turns out.
I made a venison pasta with a red meat sauce tonight and it was fantastic!!! I'm hooked.

    Best.
