Congrats on the doe Christine! I am holding off a morning hunt until Friday or Sat. Went out yesterday afternoon and saw 9 deer......5 of which were bucks. 4 bucks were together in a green soybean field, but idiot me forgot to bring the binocs and they were too far away to tell much about them. But 2 of the bucks stood out and seeing antlers at 250 yds. makes me think they might be decent bucks.

    Nice job Christine.

I went out yesterday with no luck. I really thought I'd have my pick, but I didn't see anything in the morning and only saw 2 at about 80 yards in the afternoon.

    The search goes on...

Well a very uneventful day here in Illinois for me. Didn't see any deer while on stand at all. Only highlight of hte day was getting to use my new Lonewolf stand and sticks for the first time!! Hopefully I will have better luck tomorrow!

Nice job Christine. I may start doing that this weekend.

Ok, I'm back fron the first 2 days of the IL season. Saw a bunch of deer just nothing I wanted to shoot. It was gonna be a HOLY COW buck these 2 days or nothing. But I learned a lot just watching the deer I did see.

I saw a doe and 2 young ones opening morning. Then in the afternoon I sat over one of my food plots that have been getting hammered. It is Biologic Hot Spot with a wheat strip along side. The first deer came out at 2:55, a 2 year old 10 point . He made a scrape across the feild from me and walked back into the woods. Then a doe with a fawn and 2 yearling bucks come out and feed my way. They got to within 30 yards and the wind switched and they took off. After that another doe with 2 fawns fed to within 40 yards and decided to go on across the field. 2 more does came out but got spooked by a coyote in the field.

At the other end of the field I could more deer out in my other wheat plot at least 4 over there. Altogether I saw 15 deer that night.

This morning I went back out and saw 2 turkeys. No shots.

Then tonight I moved to where 7 of the deer came out last night. They decided to use the 2nd ridge down tonight. I saw 4 or 5 head into the plot. And another couple came thru the field from another direction.

This weekend I may start to thin the doe population if they cooperate.

Well my day 2 started off like crap. I over slept by a few hours and awoke to feeling like total crap. So decided to skip the morning hunt but planning on getting out early this afternoon. Hopefully my luck will start to change here soon!

Heading out at 3ish. Seen small 8 point three different times and grunted him in the 2nd time.
Thought the last sighting he was going to walk up to the stand and climb it.

Well another boring day in the woods. Went out around 1:30 this afternoon and didn't see a single deer. Just more darn squirels. Was about ready to start shooting them!!!
