evidently you're being screwed. I've left messages for my Dr at the VA Hospital for 2 days. His nurse just called me back and without so much as taking my temperature, was able to determine what my ailment is over the phone. The nurse told me what she believed is the problem and said there is nothing I can do about it. After 10 minutes of insisting on getting the Dr to see me, she finally agreed to set up some tests to try and prove her diagnosis. If nurses can do everything over the phone, why have we been paying physicians?

that is the reason i kept tricare prime when i retired. i call my doc and get seen within 24 hours. too many bad stories come from the VA medical system and honestly, that sucks.

YUP, VA medicine is good for only getting free meds. I am drawing a disability for combat related injuries.... but can't see a doctor for about a month or two if I call. I therefore use medicare and also pay $600 a month for private medical and dental insurance so I can see anyone I want anytime outside the system, especially my cardio doc. Obama care would penalize me for that. LOL Recent blood clot in leg is an example. My private doc saw me in an hour. VA gave me an appointment for Sept 27th. My private doc has been testing my blood every 3-5 days for 3 weeks to get med levels right. VA doesn't even say turn your head and cough anymore.

I can't get Tricare Prime as I live over 30 minutes from the nearest approved facility and Tricare denied my waiver.

When O'Bamma Care kicks in fully the Nursh Practitioner will be doing everything the Dr does cause it's not going to pay for him to see you. Have heard this over and over.

Well, went into the VA spent half the day, got 4 different tests and they pretty much addressed everything but what I told them was bothering me. When I brought this to the Dr's attention, he advised me he didn't have enough time left yesterday to address that. Got to love the government at work.
