If your wife woke up tomorrow, and said "Honey, I wanna start bowhunting."

?

If your wife wanted to learn to bowhunt - how would you react?

  1. No way. My bow season would be ruined if I had to drag her along.

Man, it appears that I'm in the VAST minority on this one.

There's no way in blue hell that I'd ever take my wife bowhunting with me, no matter how bad she wanted to go. She would be nothing but a pain in the ass.

She wouldn't wanna go anyway, so it's all good. But, if she did . . . no way.

I would let her with no questions asked! But it most likely will never happen. I would be excited if she got a bow and just shot with me.

I love studying marketing, watching how companies target certain demographics, etc... Truck commercials during football games. Online universities and law firms aggressively advertising during Jerry Springer. I could go on and on.

Anwyay, for years, I've wondered why in god's name these hunting shows continue to feature the husband and wife "teams." Who watches these stupid shows, I'd wonder. Now I know exactly why. Obviously, this is a small sample size, but there's definitely a trend.

It appears that a large majority of hunters really attach to the idea of teaming up with their spouse for a hunt.

    Marketing 101, fellas. Interesting.

I'd welcome it. She has already gotten involved in two other hobbies of mine, I'd enjoy hunting with her too.

I'd buy her a fly rod. Hunting is too mean.

I tried years ago before we had kids! I would take her but we would just ground hunt,,It always ended up going in another direction rather than hunting  I just hope there was not an audiance close by, cause they got a free show with no ticket :o I was better off just leaving her at home!! ps: not made up, thats how it always turned out!!

I'd love it. She already goes to camp with me, although camp consists of myself, my mom, my step dad and step brother. Everyone hunts but her. We did buy her camo gear because she will go and sit in my buddy stand with me from time to time, but I dont think she'll ever be interested in hunting. She hasnt seen me kill anything yet and is rather nervous about when that time comes, so we will see how she feels after that. I might add, we've been together for almost 5 years and married for less than 4 months so she hasnt sat with me very many times, maybe 5 total. Of those five total times she has seen a family group of does (during the rut or I would have taken one), a couple small bucks, and 2 absolute bruisers. I call her my good luck charm for bringing in deer. Also, last year, she went on her first morning sit with me. It was fairly cold so we were bundled up pretty good. Well, at 7:30 the alarm on her phone proceeds to go off.........the phones in her bottom layer of clothing.........I would have killed her except for the fact that 10 minutes after I had a funky large racked buck come within 50 yards. My mom missed that buck 15 minutes later.

Danno, with the size of your fingers, I surely hope you skipped the foreplay and went straight to the main event. Otherwise, she might've been let down once you rounded 3rd base.

    LOL!

DITTO, it would have to be a dream for my wife to want to ever hunt. i've tried for years to get her out in the woods, even for the opening of shotgun season and sit in my box blind with a heater and a book, but she refusses to do that. She loves (well most the time loves) that i have something in common with her dad and brother, but there are days like the past month where i can't get enough of hunting, waiting for the season to start.

I'd be happy to take her along, but not all the time. She would have to eventually go at it alone, which would cause her to stop going. I'd see this stuff collecting dust next year....

I seriously just peed myself a little bit and those around me now have evidence that I am insane. Crik, if that's how it ends up you need to get her back into it. That would be added incentive for me to get up early to hunt.

As for the question at hand, I would certainly take her and would be supportive, but I doubt my wife would stick with it. She can't even look at the deer hanging in the garage knowing she is going to be eating them.

I need to clarify something, I would only take her once then she is on her own. I can say this with 100% honestly she would never go hunting. As for these shows that you mention I don't care for them much anymore.

My wife has an issue with silence. She feels any empty air needs to be filled with words, usually her words. This trait would not be good on a hunt.

I picked the last option as Kate has expressed desire to target shoot. She'd never hunt and I'm glad. I love my wife, but I enjoy having the separation. Hunting wouldn't be hunting if she pressed me to take her. I don't think there is anything unhealthy about it either.
