I don't see why anyone would say no it's a deer.

I would definitely let her take it. Meat in the freezer. With my luck though, she would see and shoot the biggest deer in the woods and I would only see the yearling.

Sure, as long as it's legal. Show her the buck and see if she wants to.

Whatever puts a smile in her face! Make it fun let her take any deer that makes her happy. I have a new hunter undery wing this year and I told him if a deer comes in and it makes him excited shoot it no matter what it is.

    No

Actually I just wanted to be a departure from what everyone else was saying.
Yes I'd give the go ahead too. I let my sis take her first deer here at home about three years ago and it was a button buck. Normally I would consider that a sin but she was anxious to take her first deer and I wasn't about to say no. Had she had more time to hunt I may have said wait for a doe but we have tons of yearlings normally, circumstances being what they were she got her first deer anyway and has shot at least one every year since.

There are always exceptions to everything.

x2, Taking my younger brother in law on his first hunt in two weeks, it is the early youth season and I told him as long as it doesn't have spots he can shoot! That first deer is always special.

We have some rules on our properties that my brother and I follow but my wife and our kids are exempt.

Here in Missouri we have APRs in most of the state with the exception of the southern part of the state and the CWD containment zone. I recently donated 120 acres for a couple of disabled hunts and the farm is in the CWD zone . I made sure that every hunter was aware that they could shoot whatever they want .

I have no problems with some rules for seasoned hunters but when trying to get others involved , you should always let them have fun and shoot whatever excites them .

I would allow her to take what ever deer she wanted if it was safe, legal, and ethical.
