This, and what people think they get for being part of a company's "Pro Staff". I've heard it's all the free hunting gear you can fit in your truck, and all expenses paid trips to the best places to hunt on Earth! All while collecting a hefty salary. Back to the topic at hand - I'd license the rights for replicas, decals and anything else with the deer's likeness on it, sell the original and spend whatever money I had left after the gub'ment took taxes on baby formula and diapers. :D
Yes, I forgot about decals and everything else with the deer's likeness. You would be much farther ahead retaining those rights than selling out completely to some company that will collect all those royalties themselves.
What's so funny about that? I've got enough money to retire right now. Getting the WR and selling it would just be icing on the cake. For some people it would be enough to retire on. May even push them into retiring earlier.
In order to get the most cash you would have to lawyer up and licence it. Or just prove its worth and try to sell it to a large company like Cabelas. I dont think id want that hassle honestly... Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Ive also never been a business man...wouldnt have any idea where to start... The key would be trying to protect the property i killed him at... Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I've changed my original position on this topic. Originally I would pimp the thing out for as much money as I could get for it. Now I would tell a few people and never let the cat out of the bag. Just because of all the crap that comes with the rack it's just not worth it. I've learned over the years to protect the land you hunt and don't give up any information to anyone, with a WR there will be a ton of questions.
When I first read this thread I thought that I would get it mounted and keep it, but after reading through everyone's posts and really thinking about it, I would do exactly what Justin said. The real mount would be worth too much for me to want it hanging on my wall. I would be fine with a replica or two, some extra cash, a million pictures, and the lifetime of memories.
Were still having problems with this from my brothers buck. Its sad, really, and kinda sucks. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I'd do the same and and Justin... License it and sell that bad boy. No idea how I could pass up 100K (if that's what the number is) in regards to providing for the family. At the end of the day, it's still just a deer. That money would allow me to do things that would have a significant influence in years to come, let alone allow me to do a hunting trip or two that I most likely won't ever get to do.
Work a deal out with Justin to be a pro staffer for bowhunting.com and retire off that. It could happen !! Just like one of us shooting a WR buck... let alone me. Tim
