I just got a WINDSTREAM bill and opened it up to look at it before paying it. My wife usually pays the bills as they come in but since she's in Korea... Any way, there was this charge for $4.10 for extended local service and another for $9.99 for "Security Package". I called them to see what these charges are and was told that the $4.10 was so I could call further away from my home without it being long distance. This is stupid, since I have long distance at a penny a minute for stateside calls. Then they told me that I called in for the security package in January. This supposedly gives me online backup of information. I informed them that I never called for that and asked to speak to a supervisor after customer service told me that they could not reverse those charges. After being on hold, the customer service agent came back online and said the supervisor would not speak to me and I had 21 days from the original addition of the service to dispute it and that period ended in February. Funny how they can add services to your account without permission. I now have a call into Fletch to see if he has one of the cellular modems so I can check it out. If it works out here, BYE BYE WINDSTREAM!
.. or your wife. BUT, chances are it is a hose job. A lot of these back alley outfits work like that. I'd just dump now and be done with it.
