where would you guess? Also, see any good deer spots? The father-in-law called yesterday and said a bear had visited his camper (which permanently stays beside the pond (where the cursor is). He/she also tore up a climbing stand to the right of the cursor on that ridge. There were sightings/signs last year as well. I have permission to hunt this property but its about 1.5 hrs away. I've never really deer hunted it before but it is great property. My father-in-law killed a nice 10 or 12 pointer last year. I'd like to hunt it a little this year with hopes of getting that bear in range (far-fetched-I know). You guys think he's staying on this property...I mean look at it...why would he not??? Suggestions? My F-in-law wants him dead...doesn't care who, either.
If you can bait, strap down Goldilocks with a bowl of porridge. Done deal man. Or, you could just hunt over a nice berry patch.
Its nearly impossible to determine if the bear is staying on the property, a bear roams around so much that it wouldn't be uncommon for him to be 30 miles away 2 days later. If the area holds something that he likes, he may stick around awhile. The bears in my area REALLY like x-mas tree patches and deep ravines.
From my limited experience and what I've read a mature boar has a home range of 20 square miles and a mature sow 12 square miles. With that said, I can't really tell a lot about your property from the aerials, but I would think it would be beddin on the north side slopes out of the sun where it is cool. If there is a decent swamp, he should be close by.....granted it isn't too wet. Good luck and whack the sucker!!!
