my nephew is in the army, and as it stands in iraq you better not fire your weapon unless you are bleeding from being shot. but the rules for Afghanistan are very different. a good friend of mine is a mo hyway patrolmen for the weights and measure division and trained with hyway officers and is made to carry's a sidearm in his job, he was told under no circumstance could he ever use his weapon period. I guess my question is why carry a weapon that your job or your country says you cant use it?
Thats just plain dumb. I don't see the point??? BUT, I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.
Ultra, then your friends work amongst slob morons. If I were trained to use a firearm and required to carry said firearm, then I would use it if necessary. If my boss truly told me to NEVER us my sidearm, then I would ask my boss to SIGN a piece of paper stating so...I would then make three copies, keeping one for myself, giving one to him, and giving the other to the department head. I GUARANTEE that my boss would relent in his stupid speech about me not being able to use my sidearm ever. And the friend of yours in the Army must also work around morons. Hell, my dad was in his mid 50's when he was embedded with an Army division in Baghad about 8 years ago. He carried a sidearm and was told to use it if his life felt threatened. I HIGHLY doubt any Army officer worth his salt would tell any soldier to hold off on using his firearm if he felt like his life were threatened.
welcome to todays army. these are todays rules of engagement as he told me in iraq. my nephew gave me this info two weeks ago. next month he will be kicking in cave doors in Afghanistan As for my friend, yes they cannot fire there weapon.
I don't believe your friend cannot fire his weapon. I really don't. Maybe just once in his career he will be confronted with a life or death situation...and then what. I do not buy it for one instance that a man who works amongst Law Enforcement agents and was trained to carry and fire a sidearm, would be expressly forbidden to use his weapon.
There's no way anyone is going to make me wear a firearm......and tell me that I can't use it. That's ridiculous.
Ok i here what you are saying but.... put your side arm on and go stand in front of a school or a bank or a concert and when a cop comes up to you tell him it's none of his biz... and see how that goes over..lol hell some people should not own planes, ie...irs building last week I have never seen anyone carry a side arm out in the open in public, i own a lot of guns but i would not go out in public with one, because somepeople look for trouble in my opinion. I am not mad or pissed, i think this is a good discussion.
That's just stupid. ALL public schools; most bank properties and anywhere selling alcohol.....it's illegal to carry (in NC). Being a responsible firearms owner is also knowing the laws. No. I can't carry it EVRYWHERE. But, I carry it more places than you think I can (obviously). And, I do.
Thats right! I sometimes even carry in a local mall where they prohibit the carrying of firearms. If I go in the "Sears Entrance" I don't see a sign telling me not to so it must be okay. In all seriousness though....you gotta know where/when you can carry. No restaurants/bars serving alchohol, federal buildings, etc. Like Jeff said.
I think in the world we live in today with all the public shootings in colleges and schools and work places, that we have had in the past few years we all think if only some one had a gun, but when i think of the (wrong and untrained person) having a weapon makes me worry about my kids being out more than just being in a bad part of town, maybe thats just me as a father. just my 2 cents
i happen to have a special love for guns and i carry sig 229 .40 s&w. it is a little cumbersome but i have no need for complete concealment.... i really want to get the Ruger Sp101 in .357 for carry also... just like everything else you get what you pay for... semi autos i dont think i would ever buy anything other than beretta 92, kimber and colt 1911's and ANY sig that is made. imho nothin can be a sig for performance and simplicity and history for ruggedness and reliability... i dont think i could speak highly enough of my 229 with night sites. for wheel guns ruger and S&W, and maybe the judge cause its cool. rugers and S&w's. if you want concealment with power i would say revolver in 357, or a semi auto with a single stack magazine.
I carry a bersa .380 thunder, nice shooting, nice feeling gun and easy to cc. I did try out the kaltec before I purchased the bersa. Once you hold both guns you can feel the difference. the bersa just feels like a solid gun
gave my handguns to my pops... but all this talk as gotten me all fired up again!!!! if i were i'd go for Spring Arms .40 XD. maybe a xmas gift to myself... 12 gage and my M4 "people stopper" protect the house now. yall are right hand gun is just easier to manage
I just want to toss in that EACH state varies, and it would be VERY wise to clear up the rules that govern where you live.
