If I was wrong as often as the weather man, I'd be fired

I set up early this morning on my first hunt of the new season for what weather.com and the local station said would be a WNW wind at 6 mph. Well, when the wind blew a consistant SW my main trail was shot and a coyote busted me at 35 yards. Didn't see a single deer first day. Just wanted some thoughts from everyone and wondering if anyones knows of a place or way to find correct wind direction before the hunt.

I never trust the weather man. I always check the wind when I get to the farm/location I'm going to hunt before deciding which stand in particular I will sit. As you found out, the weather man is rarely correct!

I have certain properties with only 1 set up. I never plan a hunt without the help of weather.com. Nobody is perfect, but it's usually accurate.

Its weird...the weather is so easy to predict, yet they continue to get it wrong. Its like they are doing it on purpose. I bet they sit around every night and joke about who's lives they screwed up that day.

The thing that you have to realize is that although weathermen cannot accurately predict whether it will rain in two days, they can predict an average temperature increase of less than a tenth of one degree over the next twenty years (sarcasm).

Seriously, weathermen suck. I had a west wind predicted today and got a north wind. I just try to hunt at least 20 feet up, and I exercise good scent control.

Many of the weather reports are from people in the area...some are good and some are bad...find who gives the best and accurate forcasts etc.
I've had temp reports as much as 10-15degrees difference in a 15-20 mile radius...
Ask guys in your area who they listen to and you will find a reliable source!
I will pull up My-cast weather map on the cell phone every morning...gives wind direction/speed/temps etc. before I go out and that dictates where I hunt!
It is not free! But, neither is going to the Doctor!

Be your own meteorologist. I bet this is where the local channels get some of the data they need to come up wih a local forecast. http://weather.gov/
