I was just thinking if I had $5 Million dollars what would I do... Buy 1200 Acres of prime land and develop it for hunting? Colorado, Wyoming, or Iowa. Maybe take annual exclusive trips for hunting exotics? Take a year off for flying lessons with an CFI (certified Flying instructor) or Go to The Aeronautics College in Oklahoma. After graduating buy my own Cirrus SR XI and fly to different areas of the country for short hunting and fishing excursions.. Or maybe spend more quality time with my extended family and friends just to reconnect. Or just take a trip to Guam and watch the ships enter and exit port from a cliff side bungalow. How about throwing a blog party in Vegas one weekend with a MMA Cage call out of the attendee's. It would be nice, but a good stretch after a hard days work is richness within it self still it never hurts to day dream.... Hope you guys are enjoying today.
After Taxes or before it's your thought....PS Fitz temperature dropped from 58 to 36°F Feels Like: 26°. with the high winds, fishing was a washout. That bungalow in Guam sounds great at this moment with a temperature 86°.
I'd pay off my college debt, then buy a house and some land. I would also buy a new truck. The rest of the money would go in the bank.
Straight to Foxwoods and put it on black!!!!!! 5 million you can't do much with you need 10. Ha ha ha!!!!
Pay off bills, open a R&R for military personnel, and put away enough so that my grand child(ren) would be able start their adult lives without college loans to pay off.
Buy property out west and here in the midwest (a couple thousand acres) a nice truck, a good duck hunting boat and put the rest away, under my bed- I dont trust banks.
Couple hundered acres in Colorado, a metal house, and a car anr truck. I'd be set. Love being in the rockies.....
If I had $5 million I'd spend less than 1 of it paying off my school debt, newly acquired mortgage, and newly acquired truck payment. I'd take the rest and invest it in real estate and rental properties and quit working. No interest in buying up huge chunks of land and settling down at this point in my life.
I would pay off the house and get a new truck. I would also buy some hunting property and invest the $4 million left while continuing to work until I am 50.
A year or two ago, my answer would have mirrored many of yours (buying big chunks of land). Now, I would be buying any land I could in wet gas areas, pay off my wife's student loans, then move south once education in PA self implodes.
You could get a little more than 1200 acres in Iowa if you looked around plus have a nice house and a shed. Plus you would make about $150,000 a year if 1000 was tillable.
