So I know a bunch of you have caught magic on your trail cams.... Why is it that you don't show the magic on this site? I guess the only reason I could see why you don't is you don't want to let your competition know where the magic happens_••• Any other reasons????
I've heard that there's a computer program that can get the GPS reading from a pic. Not sure how true that is. Maybe someone else can chime in.
I'm guessing you are referring to people having some big deer on camera but won't share pics of them?
I saw a YouTube video of someone showing how easy it was to do this, but I'm pretty sure it's only if you take a pic with a cell phone and you have your 'location' setting turned on. Granted, I could be wrong but I don't know how they could take a e.g. Covert Black 60 pic (Code Black maybe) and find out where it was taken.
I dont post anything compared to what I used too. I cant post up maps or anything location related, because alot of locals are lurkers on this site and can then see exactly what im doing. On the other side of the spectrum, ive met some really good people that are locals from these sites.
I can see where if you have locals trying to poach your hunting spot or trying and short cut deer your chasing that you wouldn't want to post info.
I usually dont post big buck pictures, because I dont get any big buck pictures. But I can see why some people dont, people suck and will do whatever if they know you have good pictures. Public or Private.
I have never killed a what I would consider a big buck. Now that I have a property that I can manage I just like to keep my top couple bucks private because honestly I just don't want to jinx it.
That's understandable Henson.. My situation is a little different than most I guess. I have never worried about jinxing myself by showing a pick I got on camera of a big buck.. Now on the other hand that old rabbits foot I always carry hunting is a different story! :p
Last year I had a guy on another forum asking all kinds of questions about where I was hunting. Turns out he ended up being not far away and had the #1 buck on my hit list showing up on his trail cameras. To say it gave me an uneasy feeling was an understatement, let alone the sudden increase of people asking for permission to hunt our farm.
its more of a I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch kind of thing. When the day comes that I get a good one on the ground I will probably start to show more pics but until that day comes I will play it close to the vest. Is that rabbits foot for sale? LOL
