Sucks for sure. Debit cards are the worst for this as they link directly to YOUR $. That is why I won't use one. At least on a Credit Card, its not your $. Many companies/banks won't refund stolen money on Debit cards, unfortunately. Glad yours is.

Yea man, we are done using them... we cut up all our credit cards as we were paying with monies right out of our account for over a year and a half. We have paid off almost all of our debt, sans the houses,....only have $1,500 left and that should be gone as of February ...

Update .... my wife got a letter in the mail from Restaurant Depot ... the place she uses for our business .... turns out someone tapped into their card processing system .....here is the letter...

So the letter goes on to say they learned on DECEMBER 4th some of their customers had experienced credit fraud and they hired this Trustwave company on the 6th ... this letter wasn't drafted until the 17th and we just got it TODAY! WTH?

I had it happen to me several months ago. Someone managed to use my debit card for 2 online transactions, one was under $2 and the other was under $10. They normally make small purchases to make sure it's still valid before going for the big items. I caught it the same day and called the bank and disputed it canceling my card. They reimbursed the charges and sent out a new card. I thought it was done.

A few weeks later I get a call saying I owed $80, ended up being a collection agency and I flipped. Turns out one of the small purchases was some sort of trial membership that needed to be cancelled, the trial was not cancelled and it went to a full membership. There was no way for me to contact them, as the company basically didn't exist was a lot of complaints online about the . Ended up having to file an FTC identity theft affidavit online, put a fraud alert on and freeze with all 3 credit bureaus and had to file a police report and then file a freedom of information act request to get a copy of it and mail it off to the collection agency with a dispute of fraud and identity theft. They eventually folded and stopped the collection but it can go bad in a hurry if not dealt with right away. Still ended up costing me more than they charged toget it all taken care of but my credit file didn't get messed with.

It's absolutely amazing how one has to prove their innocence these days. A lot of hoops to jump through over less than $10 total but it could have been a whole lot worse. Biggest thing to do is make sure you know exactly what was charged and to file at minimum a police report just in case.

This has happened to both mine and my wife's debit cards in the last 6 months. Thankfully Bank of America refunds the fraudulent charges. Sorry to hear that you're dealing with the hassle PT!

The thing to always remember is to get a bank card with Credit card logo on it, VISA for instance. Then if it is used illegally, the bank must return your money to you within 48 hours, even BEFORE the investigation.

I don't think the store will be screwed either. We pay for it in our rates and fees.

He just didnt agree with the banning of another member I guess. He asked where the member went, when told he was banned and PMed the monitor who banned him, he came back to the thread and posted something like its been fun and look me up on facebook if you want to keep in touch, and that was it. Only other posts he made since were related to his team in the contest. Sucks, hes a tough loss.

I cant say it was over ego or anything...I didnt PM and ask why he was banned. It could have been justified, but I guess Tony didnt feel it was. Or he didnt want to be here without that member here as well.

I'm hoping he'll come back on. He's always positive and encouraging to all the members. Always willing to help. We need a little more of that around here at times.

    The ban was earned

It wasnt the dog thread. It was the retort.
