Just wondering what kind of things everyone does in the woods when it's not hunting season. I love being out in the woods and just walk around looking. But just curious if anyone has cool ideas to make it a little more adventurous. Did the shed hunting but no luck there. I usually scout and sometimes I'll just setup an wait for deer to come out and watch them. So just looking for ideas. anything you guys got. Thanks --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?1jhyr4
There are lots of things that you're able to do. If you have kids bring them out and teach them what your mentor sort of speak taught you. I think that just being out in the woods is something special in its self but that's just me.
I enjoy getting out and geocaching. Not for the items or anything but for the opportunity to check out new areas that I otherwise wouldnt.
I've heard of this but don't know what it is. I'll have to do some research and try it out. Thanks --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?1qi4dd
Treasure hunting with a gps. Can visit www.geocaching.com People hide geocaches all over the world. You can download the coordinates into your gps and go find them. Typically it is just a bunch of junk but the rule is you can take something if you leave something. Most have a log book with them to sign and date that you found it. Like I said I never take or leave anything I just do it for the search.
Critter hunting is pretty fun. I flip over logs, rocks etc... and see what kind of snakes, salamanders, bugs etc... I can find. I usually take kids with me and their eyes just light up as they discover God's creation.
Geocaching, birding, picking berries, hunting for morells, searching with a metal detector, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, biking, squirrel hunting, photography....
I used to love to scout for deer with a fishing pole near water..hahaha. I would scout for a bit, then fish, then repeat. If I got hot I would slip off my shoes and get refreshed in a cool stream.
Looking for deer trails, trimmimg stand sites, setting up cameras, food plots, just walking around and in past years camping.
Fish, frog gigging, hiking, camping, scouting, build duck blinds, habitat stuff. Im usually in the woods plenty with my job... I love it
Just logged back into the Geocache website for the first time in a long time and can't believe how many new ones are right around my neighborhood. Think i'm gonna get out this weekend and find a few. Could use the exercise and a few of them will take me though some good deer area so hopefully a few good pictures and a shed or two would be nice to go along with it!
