Hey Ryan, happy you made it home safe. Thanks for the kind words and for coming out and sharing the mountains with me once again. There will be many more elk hunts to come, You and I both know that. We've talked all week, nothing I need to share here. You know how I feel. I will see you on the moutain again, elk will be bugling and we will be after them. As for the whitetails, go get after those PA bucks and Ohio bruisers! We shared some good times watching a few of my bucks, glad u gotta see a couple of them up close! The best medicine is getting back after another critter. Can't wait to see how your whitetail season goes.
Rybo; My first post here and it is in reply to your post. I am sorry to hear of your loss, unfortunately if you hunt long enough, that will happen to you, as Huck mentioned. I am sure Troy, yourself and your gang did all you could to recover your wounded bull. It happens to all of us. It is a humbling and sad experience to deal with. With all the hungry wolves and bears in Idaho, it won't go to waste, althought the delicious meals will be theres, not yours with taters and gravy mushrooms and onions , lol. Rest your troubled heart, you did your best. Great photos, last time and this time. Troy and I are distant email friends, when I was planning a Idaho hunt in the Mt Borah area. I am in the area north of Pittsburgh, 12 minutes from Cranberry. Tell Troy Hungry Horse said Hello and good hunting. HH in Pa
Great Pics its almost time to chase some whitetails, rest up and go stick a big BUCK in PA and OHIO Chris
Hey HH great to see you, and your right. Ryan worked himself to complete exhaustion looking for that bull, guys I can not tell you how hard he worked. Ask Fran, they stayed in constant text mode ...Thanks Fran for being a good friend to Ryan. We went back and then Ryan went back two or three more times while I was at work in the AMs. So 4 or 5 days while trying to still get some hunting in. Extreme hot temps and gawd aweful brush even on a perfect shot ... not to mention it rained the day Ryan smoked that bull.. made it very difficult. Only those that have elk hunted and know how tough they can be. Not to mention elk are really fat right now here, lots of fat to clog up wounds. Hes dead as ryan drilled that bull, and it aint over, I will be looking for that bull this entire year.. My wife lost one a few years ago, I found him in shed season. Will try for Rybo to do the same.
Ryan, sorry to hear about the bull. I know how hard you've been hunting. At least you got yourself an opportunity and made a good shot. That's all you can do. It sounds like it was a great trip. I'm sure you'll be back out there again and back at it. Keep your chin up. Good luck the rest of the fall and I hope to be exchanging some picture texts with you shortly on successes.
