Any of you guys in central Minnesota know about how thick the ice is. I'm assuming it's probably around a foot now but I haven't had a chance to get on the ice yet.
We are headed to Platte lake near Mille Lacs Friday-Sunday for some panfishing. Bringing the sleeper house and a lot of beer. Have several lakes near Platte where we can always find crappies.
Heard any ice/fish reports on Minnewaska this past week? 12-14" of ice and catching some walleyes last weekend I know.
Braved the cold last Saturday and caught a handful of small keeper gills and had 20 or so flags of mostly pike and a couple bass. Hoping to get out this weekend again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We have been making a trip from Kentucky to Erie but I don't see it happening this year. Anyone wanna give me their numbers for a safe lake on a side x side.
where on erie you heading? we go to Presque isle bay a lot. I guess they are hammering big blue gills now. I heard that the guys are stating to fish the Allegheny reservoir but is is only around 3". not thick enough for me yet.
Kept 9, 16-21" walleyes. Caught a ton around 14" and bunch of small perch and some northerns. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Been going out of putinbay area. I don't see it happening this year tho just not gonna see the ice needed. . Was thinking about heading further north but don't like being on ice I'm not familiar with.
Finally made it out this weekend, 9" ice on Duck Lake. Late night bite was terrible but early afternoon produced.
I went ice fishing for the first time last week with Trevor. Had a pretty good first day. Caught a few good gills. Caught a nice bass as well. The 2nd day was a lot slower. We were on small perch both days. Had a good time. I'm going back this next weekend for a tourney. 2 man teams and best 10 pan fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Did decent today. Biggest were almost 10 so I was pretty happy with that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We (my hubby, jmbuckhunter and I) went ice fishing in Utah for the first time. It's been at least 10 years since I've ice fished and at least five years since I've chased fish with anything but arrows. It's been at least 15 years since my husband has used a hook for fish and probably a couple decades since he's ice fished. Jmbuckhunter had never ice fished before. We went to a lake at about 9,000 feet. The lake near us at 5000 ft doesn't have enough ice. Anyhow we went out for a few hours and ended up with just under 100 perch. Caught over a dozen trouty things. Rainbows, splake and a tiger trout. When I caught the tiger trout, I had no idea what kind of trout it was. Kind of fun pulling in mystery fish. The lake has big lake trout too. (A 41 lb laker came out of that lake) For now, we'll focus on the little fishes. I caught 52 perch, my husband who was just a few feet away only caught 14. Weird.
Went back out again. I caught 96 perch this time and kept four trout. This lake has a perch 'problem'.
Awesome fish Christine! That tiger trout is one of my bucket list fish on a flyrod. Well done, and the fried perch looks delicious! All you're missing is some coleslaw, hush puppies, and an ice cold beverage! Cheers!
