I had the experience of taking a guy from Texas fishing a couple years ago, first time on the ice. I forgot to warn him that 2 ft thick ice will still crack and one felt like it went directly under the shack. He insisted we were going to die, well then a truck drove by the house rather fast and after all the cracking stopped, he was done. Nothing I could say could convince him we weren't going to break through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is how I envision a trip going if I was convinced into going out onto the ice. You just convinced me I'm back to being out on the ice fishing fun... lol
Think I will be out on Saturday! I have a lot of work to do at the lake house so might just put out some tip-ups in front while working in the garage!
Once you're dressed for it, and have a way to get out of the wind (tent, camper, hut etc) its a good time.... sitting freezing your fuzzy dice off jigging isnt an enjoyable way to spend a day
Went out this morning before work and only caught two small walleyes. Tomorrow I'm going to a lake that's on fire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ice must be pretty thin... We have plenty of ice but I haven't went yet. Pumped to get out there though. Pike, Brookies, Browns, Lakers, the possibilities are endless.
^^^^^ Great catch and that will be some good eating! I was hoping to get out but hurt my back saturday morning so I am layed up on the couch for a few days popping pain pills now. I know Peakrut was at my place fishing yesterday and said the ice was 6-7" but I didn't see any sleds or quads on the lake at all which was kind of weird. I hope to be out in a few days!
Gonna go do some California ice jig fishing tomorrow. Not exactly ice fishing it has been in the mid 80s the last three days. But I'll be using an ice jig that's good for something right.
