Lastnight my best-friend stopped over and we decided to head to his family farm to check my Reconyx that is set over a very active scrape. On the way in we saw several nice bucks in the field and when we pulled up over the crest of a hill where my camera is we saw a good buck heading into the woods.... 764 photo's in 9 days makes me wish that I had more chances to hunt this property this past season. My buddy is moving back in town this week so next year we will be able to hunt the property more and after checking out the photo's.... i'm PUMPED :D
I love that wide buck. Interesting that ALL of them were at night. There are a lot of good young(er) bucks on there. I'd be willing to say, this property will have some REAL slammers in a couple years. Especially with the vast number of different bucks you have on camera.
Looks a field edge scrape which would explain all of the night photos. Some very nice looking bucks! Hopefully most of them make it until next season.
Matt, the scrape they hit is right on a hill overlooking the barn. There is a small patch of woods that jets out from the big woods and this scrape is on the end. The deer will usually head out of the big woods and into the fields then work this scrape over after dark. I'm not exactly sure what the count is, but over the last month we have had close to 3 dozen different bucks hit this scrape. This area has a 4 pt antler restriction and the differance between it and my honey hole property (3 pt antler restrictions) is insane.
No daylight pictures? Seems typical from what I've been hearing the last few weeks. Everyone I know that have cameras out have activity from 11:00pm - 3:00 am. Nice bucks BM. Hopefully most will make it through to next year.
Nice bucks Jason. Hope you get time next year to hunt that spot, some real good promise there. I think the whole state would really benefit from a 4 pt state wide restriction.
Thanks Rob... this farm is pretty small but it has the food sources for the deer. I believe that there will be 3 guys hunting it this rifle season... the only part that worries us is that the landowners on the backside of the farm are a little "shaddy". They own a 3 acre golden rod field that butts against my buddies family's cornfield.... a few months ago a 10 foot high 8'X8' box blind poped up right in the middle of their field.
Set up on the line so they can't shoot across just to watch. In fact set up on the line right under their box blind.
That's what its about my friend. Finding that piece of ground is half the battle. Gonna have some great bucks on there next year. That 1 is already just a stud! And he's not that old either.
so when are you not going to be able to hunt?? times and dates please oh ya how about a google earth location.??
Looks good Jason. That wide 8 and the taller 9 should be studs next year if they make it past the gunners. Good luck getting out there next year and getting on those bucks.
Thanks guys, Rob... my buddies dad will be hunting one of the boarders of this field and will have a clear view of the box blind from his treestand. Next year should be great for this property. I am sure that I "could" hunt this property when my buddy isn't around, but thats just not my style. Next year he will be living about 15 minutes from me and we will actually have some time to scout and alot more time to hunt this property.
