I enjoy fletching and my boys will sit down with me at times. I enjoy these times with my kids passing along things I've learned. :D
My buddy just tried these out last week, he loves em'. Myself, I love to fletch arrows, even if I only do one a night. Besides my arrows look cool! :D
I could see where they would be helpful for those that don't want to spend the time, but I just enjoy fletching arrows and enjoying a few cold ones. It's a great excuse to sit in the man cave and get away from the wife. I know velcro sneakers would be much more practical as well, but just can't bring myself to do it..........:D
As others do, I also enjoy building arrows, fletching included. Beside, how would they get feathers to stick on that shrink wrap and survive the boiling water?
1. There is an adhesive on the inside of the tube that helps them stick to the shaft and not move. 2. Time is money. Spend a little more on them, but save time in the long run. 3. I used to enjoy fletching arrows until I started doing it for 4-5 different people. Now I see it as more of a chore than anything. 4. Have fun fletching them the old fashioned way. You're all a bunch of suckers. :D
Honestly, I don't mind fletching, but stripping the old fletching especially with wraps is a pain. So, how easy are the EZ Fletches to take off if one rips?
I have had alot of experence with the ez fletch. lt all depends some of them you can cut them down the middle and they just come right off, but others are a real pain and stick to the shaft real good.
Why doesn't Duke fletch his own arrows? Being a skilled tradesman I would think he could make up some killer arrows.
I got all of the above. I only can say two things...... 1. Complications are the spice of life. 2. My wife is not human. If she were, the skys would fall. I am a lucky man. On fletching, I have often thought about trying these, but I do enjoy fletching arrows the majority of the time. I may pick a pack up to mess with for times when I have to hurry or one of my underlings comes over the night before bow season needing a fletch.
I used to use something similar to the zip strip, but you still are left with alot of goo. Now I make one "zip" inbetween two fletchings the length of the wrap. Then I take a knife and lift the edge up the whole length, after that I evenly peel the wrap off. There is usual some goo left and for that I use a debonder.
I think Bruce and I were separated at birth and didn't know it.... I actually looked at these when they first came out with the thought of maybe taking some along to elk camp high in the mountains when I'm so isolated from everything as an emergency solution for a mishap... then thought, Heck, that's why I take a dozen arrows with me on those trips!
Now that you're not spending time fletching.... maybe you could send me my strap for my harness and a dvd of the footage from waay back when we did Cambell's.
