I was spoiled when I hunted where I lived.

Getting ready to hunt tomorrow and have my list checking it twice. Funny how spoiled I was, at home I did not need to have lights and knives the gambrel and come along all packed. Washing my clothes and thinking how pointless the prehunt shower is going to be after a 20 minute drive, guess I will have to use more of the magic scentless spray that you apply like some hunting holy water.

I have my stand set up for the prevailing wind and will be hunting before a front arrives, hope I do not get the dreaded east wind for that half hour before the front arrives. Heck I will even have to pack some beer incase there is a celebration/work to be done.

I can see how that could spoil you. It sure makes things more simple.

Yeah the only thing I had to remember was the bow, quiver and release and if I forgot it was a 5 minute walk back to get it. Scent control was so much easier as well. Still the same in that do not think you can out wash the wind. I hate dead calm days.

Hey its never to late to learn some new tricks and learn a new piece of property. Plus you get to be so much closer to your grandson. Just think when he gets older and the 2 of you will be getting ready together and heading out. By then you will be seasoned to the land and can set him up for better opportunities.

My most loved picture of me with a buck will be one with my grandson grabbing the antlers. Can not wait to shoot with him.

sota, I know what you mean. My grandson is chomping at the bit for his first deer this year. Not a full-fledged bowhunter yet but he is looking to take one with a .243. I hope he gets one this year before me! He is saving up his $$$$ for a bow.

I can't tell you how badly I want my son to kill his first one with a bow. He's killed 8 with a shotgun and he has been bowhunting since last year, he's 15 now, and he insisted on using a compound not xbow and so I bought him one..he's very concerned about how he kills one...I mean I have the deer walking behind the target while we are shooting and he could easily shoot one at 10-12 yards...perfectly legal as well here in the neighborhood because we have an urban archery season, he refuses to do it, said that is not how he wants his first deer with the bow... heck even won't even sit the edge of field at the hunt club because he feels like that's just shooting.. not hunting.... He is just very particular about everything and wants it to be on his own account...I tried to convince that it won't always go that way...

Are you not still hunting where you used to live?

Didn't realize you were hunting new land overall.

    Good luck either way

make sure you don't mistake that magic scent killing spray for magic mock scrape starter.
